Lactose intolerance is hardly uncommon and typically very easily catered to.

For real

You ask them if there's dairy and ask to omit cheese, don't eat if they can't make it dairy free. Ez mode

As someone who used to avoid dairy while eating meat this is kind of annoying but very easy to accommodate basically everywhere

Ask for kosher options. Bam

Humans are mostly lactose intolerant which makes sense as we're not made to drink animal milk for life

It depends on background. Ive read that people of European descent are mostly unaffected by lactose intolerance for example.

Also, considering the fact that, naturally at least, a baby is supposed to take its mothers milk, it was never wholly unnatural. Its just that for whatever reason lactase deactivates (when breastfeeding would end I suppose, though it can happen later in life too)

I'm white af, my genetic testing suggests I'm likely to be lactose tolerant, yet when I stopped consuming dairy for a few months as a teen I became lactose intolerant. Most people continue to have dairy in their diets regularly but when they remove dairy and consume it again they almost certainly will have great issues with digestion

We're meant to stop consuming milk after a certain point

Anyone saying you can avoid food poisoning by being vegan is just dumb tbh.

No one has said you can avoid all food poisoning by being vegan. You can 100% avoid food poisoning (and the feeling of disgust and worry) from biting into cold uncooked meat tho

The world is a germy place even without meats

I'd love to open a cafe that caters to board gamers, with a couple rooms in the back for bigger or louder groups such as DnD players, but that would require funds as well.

Every time someone opened a place like that (or similarly, one for video games) near where I live, they always wound up tanking.

The desire to turn your hobby or passion into a career (or share it with other people) really isn't enough if the demand isn't there.

There's 2 board game cafes like this within 2 blocks of my apartment. They're both steady all the time. One has turned into a vegan hotspot for snacks and they're extra busy. I'm certain that if one folds it's going to be the place not trying to bring in new demographics.

Really depends on your market and how you do things. Most businesses of any kind will close within a few years.

Did you throw something back at them?

I did not. There were multiple men there and I was alone with nothing on hand.

I joke with friends about carrying around an anger object to throw because you never know when people are going to be trouble. This would have been good time for packing anger rock

I don't get where vegans can get some of nutrients >_> We're omnivores. We're made to eat meat and veggies.

I'm not vegetarian but this is not really as black and white as you make out. Which part of your anatomy for example do you think has evolved to kill and eat a cow?

The fact that we cannot self-produce or obtain some vitamins and other nutrients through a plant-only diet and without supplements or artificial fortification is proof enough.

The fact that one has to turn eating a specialized diet into a science to keep from becoming malnourished is proof in itself.

which nutrients? b12 is the only one that needs to be supplemented, and it's supplemented to the animals. so you're picking between should it be you that's supplementing or the cow that should be supplementing. cows don't produce b12 either. it's produced by bacteria and you can get plenty of it if you live in the wilderness. stream water contains b12. we live in a sanitary society and the bacteria that produces it doesn't exist in urban environments

You know an even better way? Make like a rabbit and engage in coprophagia instead. I hear human excrement is very rich in B12 because we can't absorb it from our colon where it is produced.

why is giving a pill to a cow better than you taking one?

You only have to give a pill to the cow if the soil is very low in cobalt which is literally part of B12's chemical formula.

Or when the cattle spend their lives in factory farmed conditions not interacting with soil

You can get it from unwashed plants or untreated water which is how humans have historically got B12. Humans didn't primarily get B12 from animal products until very recently, which only has a noteworthy content due to supplements in livestock diets as well as injections of B12 into the same beings

It's distracting

I agree, at least Jennifer Lawrence used a Russian accent in Red Sparrow.

They do mix in Ukrainian when media is being played (radio, emergency announcements, the writing, the signage)

So just imagine its magic where dialogue between characters is being translated for us in real time

Yes but it's just really lazy and especially mixed with the Ukrainian it feels really off

I've only seen episode 1, even by the end it was weird af hearing those Ukrainian names in English accents

Ok listening to the album, I don't know why Spotify kept throwing out Lose Your Head from the album. Because that legit sounds like bad religion dad rock style

The rest of the album is a lot more intense. It's not grabbing me like other albums have but I'm also not a teen listening to punk rock in the basement. This seems like less of a direct attack on Trump (I'd say more largely alt right, Republicans, centrists) vs their 2004 Empire of The State which was way way anti Bush

How this album could surprise anyone with the fact that BR is left leaning anti establishment just leaves me thinking they really haven't listened to the band before but hey they might have thought the crossbuster was cool

I was in charge of keeping track of and reporting of deaths of members for a professional regulatory body. This was published in a magazine distributed to all members. The CEO's assistant gave me instructions to rush add a person to the obit list, right before the cutoff. I did so on her request.

The man was not dead. The man was understandably a bit upset about being reported as dead and having his wife harassed with condolences (he was a big deal in the field I guess). I almost got disciplined for but I kept track of my e-mails.

They had to print a retraction the next issue... and then he passed away shortly after unexpectedly. That man had his name mentioned in 3 consecutive issues for dying, not dying, then really being dead. An honest error with bad timing.

hope I never fuck up that bad again

I don't know if there is a lack of nuance, since i myself have not analyzed the lyrics to the songs. I just can't tell if people don't like that, or they are just now discovering the band is left wing.

It might be the latter

They have a song called The Kids Are Alt-Right which specifically mentions red hats and I'm sure some jimmies were rustled

The lyrics look like normal Bad Religion ones, maybe the vocabulary is a little too complex

the album, as expected is anti trump.

Some of the things ive read about it point to one of two things:

a) the anti trump rhetoric isn't very nuanced or complex
b) people are just now discovering that bad religion is a highly political band with left wing leanings. After all, 2004s the empire strikes first was 100% anti bush, because...well lyrically and also because the band said so themselves.

Hahaha what they've been political for longer than I've been alive and the left wing leanings are far from new

That's too bad at the lack of nuance though

With that reasoning yeah the food refund does make sense. It's not marked up like 4x here but it is pretty expensive
