the diablo 2 runs have been good every time so far so I'm assuming it'll be good this time too. metroid prime 1&2 in a row is sweet too because I've looked a lot into speedrunning those games before. mario sunshine races are always fun to watch just because of the extremely fluid movement

#1 sleeper run that I should bring up so people actually watch it is Koumajou Densetsu II. It's a very high production value touhou fangame that's based extremely closely off castlevania. The movement is pretty cool with some sweet backdash invuln and damage boosting and the bosses are chaotic but quick. definitely recommend watching it

some games I think the difficulty of the gameplay is a big selling point and I can understand why the devs wouldn't want to add an easy mode to them. Others I feel like there's a lot more beyond just difficulty and in those cases it starts to become a little more questionable to me if they're very steadfast about not having easier difficulty modes

also gotta keep in mind that different people find different things difficult. I have a friend who's probably one of the better video game players (lol) I know but he mostly just plays 2D platformers. He's really good at them. But he's said before that he finds it really hard to process and recognize 3D animations and thinks it's probably impossible for him to ever beat dark souls, he's put hours into it and says more than half the time in combat he still has no idea what's going on

I think even a 50 gig game would be less data than like 50 hours of stream.

howlongtobeat has RDR2 at 46 hours for main story and the xbox1 version of the game is a 107GB download. The recommended minimum quality setting for stadia is 4.5GB / hour, which would be 207GB over those 46 hours to play the main story. So it's about twice as much data.

on the flip side of things, titanfall2 is averaging around 6-7 hours for the single player content and it's 69GB, while 7 hours minimum quality stadia is only 31GB.

granted I am picking the lower end of things (not completionists for RDR2 and only the single player for titanfall2) and comparing it with the lowest data for stadia but... that's still a fair bit closer than I was expecting. You are right though that streaming is still a fair bit higher in terms of data, and will definitely be a lot higher for games with even the faintest idea of how to compress assets and reduce file size

These are basically all telltale signs that you're talking about some sort of lets play channel. You know, the kind of people who are using (or trying to use) their channel as their career and thus need things like company sponsorships and what not. Their videos are meant to be a replacement for TV series type of entertainment, not a replacement for guides. And I definitely agree with you that they don't make for very good ways to look up how to do something but that's not what they're for and you're the one who comes out looking dumb if you commplain about them for this reason

I still regularly look up how to do things in games and have basically never had any issues with anything in the first post.

I do agree with you though that the unskippable ads youtube sticks in videos really suck but fortunately adblock can just deal with them and really that's more a fault of internet advertising culture in general than youtube specifically

I dunno if this falls into "too whiny" but in no other area of knowledge / interest / whatever have I seen as many people how talk to the professionals as though they know so much more than them, regularly make massive monologues about why company X makes decision Y about game Z when really they have no idea what they're talking about, and just generally act like they could do a better job themselves

I'm not really a big fan of hollow knight's visuals either but if you think it looks like a flash game I imagine you haven't played a flash game in years

its biggest issue imo is the way everything just blends together. There isnt a ton of colour variety and there's a lot of very dark colours and actually pure black. Background elements blend with interactable elements blend with foreground elements. In fact there's just too much stuff in the foreground in general. Import aspects of the screen are often difficult to make out since very very parts of the design really "pop"

What kinda game is that?

it's a puzzle game about pushing around objects. the goal of the game is to win each level by touching an object that is win. The really cool thing about it is that no objects have inherent properties, and are granted mechanics by the rules that exist on the stage as blocks of text. and since these text blocks are part of the stage, you can push them around and modify the rules of the game mid-level

it's probably the best puzzle game I have ever played

I dunno I feel like it seems small as a % but when you consider just how many people there are it's not really that rare sounding anymore. Like, my university had 40-50k students the years I was there. Say maybe half of them are women, that's 20-25k. So you'd expect 5 of them there to have something like this

When I hear "rare" I think something that I would never be even remotely close to my entire life, let alone something where there were multiple cases of it just at a school I went to (let alone the population of the city as a whole)

I liked it but Ill conceed the dark pirate commandos locking the doors but not even staying long enough to kill them normally (so you end up wasting a TON of Light ammo) is a huge flaw.

You wouldn't expect it since they're dark pirate commandos but the best way to fight them is actually not to use the light beam. a single charged dark beam shot + a single missile will kill one in about 5 seconds

For N64 games, the original controller is the best controller.

a lot of this is because basically all emulation of the n64 controller, official and otherwise, completely messes up sensitivity and deadzones for the control stick
