And that lead shielding is going to be worn away over time due to the impacts with interstellar debris

And a rotation mechanism isn't? If it uses an axle what about friction? What about just generally losing momentum from people inside moving around? What do you do when people want to leave / enter? These questions all have interesting theoretical solutions but nothing has been solved.

This is like saying we've solved faster than light travel because the math behind the alcubierre drive works.

Which part of "that's basically already been solved" did you not understand?

The part where it hasn't been solved at all.

I mean...it has, though? There are several viable designs for interstellar ships which are perfectly feasible with current technology. Of course the cost of building them at the moment is prohibitive. But it's got nothing to do with the physics involved. Spin up a big ring with the engine in the center attached by spokes and voila, you have a ship that can simulate gravity for its occupants during voyage. The radius of the ring and the rate at which you spin it determines the strength of the simulated gravitational pull for the people on the ring. Some suggestions have multiple concentric rings, giving different levels of gravity which can be used for different things during the voyage.

The concepts are incredibly basic and very well understood. The gravity problem currently has almost nothing to do with the physics and everything to do with economics.

EDIT: And that's just the most basic design. There's plenty of other more complicated solutions.

Just because the math for the gravity checks out does not mean construction is physically possible even without economics getting in the way.

You can also just pack on 4 feet of lead shielding on a ship to block radiation theoretically. Once it's in space it doesn't weigh anything.

Theoretical physics deals with things that are solvable, not things that are solved.

Gravity is literally the least of the problems involved in interstellar travel/colonization.

No actually. It's not more dangerous than radiation but long term zero gravity ruins you. Even with daily 2 HR workouts astronauts come back from space suffering from atrophy. Some of the first astronauts who stayed in space long term were not able to stand when they came back.

And that was like just a few weeks.

Imagine taking a multiple years trip to another solar system.

The misinformation is real.

Microsoft is going to supply Sony (and Nintendo, if recent rumors are true) with behind-the-scenes tech for their online infrastructure, which means things like content distribution/downloads will be faster, storefronts and online systems will be more secure, cross-play will be standard, and when the technology gets there, streaming-based gaming could be very popular.

People hear the word "cloud" and assume it's going to be OnLive 2.0.

It literally says game streaming in the article.

This is a direct response to the failure of PSNow coupled with the Google stadia announcement.

The 3 Oscars Avatar won were all related to its visual effects, which pretty much everyone agrees was amazing for the time. It also has such a high gross because a large amount of the tickets for it were IMAX showings, which drove up its average ticket price.

It had zero chance of winning Best Picture that year. It wasnt a compelling story and was overall an average movie outside of its visual effects.

It won cinematography.

Which has to deal with how pretty it was. Which is why I said that those are the awards it won.

Uhh you have a very strange definition of cinematography.

My bad, it has to deal with how it was shot. Which is still more like how pretty it is award than a this movie is the actual best award.

Schindler's List won the same award.

The movie is visually disgusting, intentionally so.

It's like one of the most prestigious awards at the academy.

Its just really weird how so many republicans were talking down on trump and then all these same people grovel at his feet. And they act like we dont have receipts for all of it.

Trump probably got a shit load of dirt on them.

He's not blackmailing them. They just have the same voters, and most of those voters care a lot more about Trump than they do their local rep or Senator.

There's no benefit to sticking with Trump if he can't win the next general. Look at how the Republicans treated GWB during the 2008 election. They basically all told him to go fuck off.

GWB wasnt up for re-election in 2008.

That's not the point. The candidates that were running rejected his endorsements, they were able to do so freely because it earned them centrist voters that hated Bush.

Im saying the point is irrelevant because the circumstances are different. Republicans didnt run as anti-Bush in 2004.

He had strong popularity in 2004 due to his running on "do you want to change presidents in the middle of a war" campaign and people were still pretty salty over how sore of a loser Gore was.

Trump has none of those advantages. Hillary didn't ask for a recount and Trump asked to investigate voter fraud for an election he won because he can't handle not winning the popular vote either.

His foreign war policy has been a complete Trainwreck.

"lmao own the sjws" only goes so far.

Yes but that is clearly not the case with Avatar. It has highest review praises from many well respected critics and won 3/10 Academy awards that it was nominated for.

The money it made may have been due to Cameron carefully manipulating the release window + IMAX ticketing but even if the movie would have made $10.57 it was still a good movie.

We got super speeder laws here which are a flat rate and apply everywhere regardless of the speed limit so if it says 70 I go 65.

If it says 55 I can go 65 though that's okay.

Rats are disgusting, vile creatures and I don't care how inhumane it is to use glue traps on them.
Lmao this coming from you. Can you actually not shit post?

Name one positive thing about rats. You can't. They are disease carrying vermin and should be wiped out.
