Doom Slayer could be fodder line but specifically just right now with the circle jerk around Doom 2016 (which is well deserved) and the impending Doom Eternal. Doom 2016 has been played by a TON of people because it's super cheap on every platform. You also have all these people on this site that won't shut the fuck up about him being in Smash so that helps keep him relevant in some way. I don't think this ranking will hold forever though but having his game's title in his name def helps.

also I would never nominate Doom Slayer cuz you'd have a flood of people every match making topics titled "it's Doom GUY who's Doom Slayer???????"

Dick Gumshoe would be mid fodder because of the name alone, change my mind.

No opinion on Kairi, I haven't played KHIII or even II enough to have a real opinion on her.

one time at work i did the math for ticket sales v box office gross and I think Gone with the Wind was seen by like 65% of all Americans alive at the time. I even took out a chunk of ticket sales assuming people were going on repeat viewings. Force Awakens was like 11% or something, which is still an accomplishment (imagine creating something that gets 1 in every 10 americans out of their house) but it isn't fucking 65%. Nothing will ever beat Gone with the Wind in terms of ticket sales.

i'm not saying the netflix shows were bad, they were (mostly) good

but not being able to have Daredevil interact with the rest of the MCU is an absolute shame. it was a bad move on marvel's part. same thing with Inhumans.

at least AoS doesn't have much that we lose out on by not having it cross over to the movies. Agent Carter actually is heavily tied to the movies.

if I was given a choice to reset the Netflix universe, wipe it from everyone's memories and give the Defenders a shot to be done right in-universe I definitely would. Maybe if Iron Fist and the Defenders show didn't suck so much I'd be more hesitant to do so but that Netflix stuff definitely fizzled hard in the end.

Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter were actually produced in some way by Feige and the Jarvis from Agent Carter actually showed up in Endgame and yeah Sif did show up in Agents of SHIELD so those shows were a little better off than the Netflix stuff. i don't mind their existence as much but it would have been nice if they sprung for getting Cap or Thor to walk on even once.

Again I know how expensive it would be do to that but it would have been worth it. would have definitely gotten more people interested. if you're gonna do the expanded universe you gotta commit to making it feel whole and not just a cash-grab spinoff.

avatar had an anniversary re-release or something like that

titanic also had its re-release rolled into its originally gross i believe

and don't forget that gone with the wind has been in and out of theaters constantly since its release. less frequently now but it ran on and off for like 20 years after its initial release and it gets anniversary showings every 10 years now.

they probably shouldn't have even bothered with the netflix shows if they knew they weren't going to go all-in with including them in movie continuity

the disney+ lineup looks like how the original netflix lineup should have

i understand how expensive it is to do these things right which is why in retrospect I would have rather had nothing. in the end all the good that came from the netflix shows is basically wasted as they probably won't want to retread on a lot of those characters, actors and plot points for a while. Simpsons held onto the lead for the first few hours of the contest only for Princess Bride to blow past it and keep its lead up until the bitter end when suddenly Simpsons managed to stage a comeback. Turns out it was only mostly dead, which is still slightly alive.

I didn't bring this up in any of my match summaries before this because it never really affected the results of most matches, but the night vote in this contest tends to favor the more "mainstream" entries.

For example, Zelda CD-i and Rocky were basically tied at one point with Rocky only having a slight lead, but once the night hit Rocky ended up getting a vote surge that made the match look one sided. I think a lot of entries in this contest were particularly front loaded, which is what ended up ending Princess Bride's miracle run. If it even was a miracle run.

So here we are in a post-Most Quotable world. What did we learn? Well, when Zen hesitated for three years about making this contest because he knew the Simpsons would win, he was right. But what about the journey along the way?

We learned that Board 8 can't agree on what the word "quotable" means and isn't that the most important lesson of all?

Anyway I think I'll let the results speak for themselves, at some point I'm gonna harass Leon to make X-Stats for this. I'll keep this topic bumped for a while. Please spitball ideas for Most Quotable II. I will most likely be removing the top 4 of this Contest to open the field up a bit. I will definitely be doing a re-match of PB v Simpsons, because CJayC was kind enough to give us a Link v Cloud in almost every contest.
