It's interesting. RDR2 seems like the most hardcore casual game I think I've ever seen. There are so many complicated mechanics and it doesn't care about bogging the player down with stuff. It seems like something only Rockstar could both accomplish and get away with.

I don't think the mechanics are complicated, it's just that there are so many of them and they all have animations that you can't skip amd that slows down the game. Thankfully a lot of that stuff is optional that i'm still having fun with the game.

Managing hunger, stamina, your horse, hygiene and the camp is asking a lot more from the player than any other open world game that isn't an RPG. Even then most RPG's don't really ask for that much. Each mechanic on its own isn't complicated though yeah. But as a whole I dunno how a lot of these casuals are managing it.

Also people are blowing the managing of things way out of proportion. All of those things you listed you rarely have to do, if anything the systems in GTA San Andreas were more in your face.

Yeah and once you upgrade the camp a few times, none of this stuff really matters. For me it's just the animations that really bother me, it makes everything take to long that I don't want to do it.
