I could see them do Snubbull and Marill but I think Teddiursa and Phanpy would be best for Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh are spot-on

No. It was announced when Pokemon Go first dropped and became R/B/Y all over again.

It just took forever because it took a full two years for Detective Pikachu to be translated to English, which is a rare thing these days, it's usually months, not years.

the US got the game the same day as Japan, what we didn't get was the paid demo that was only the first few hours of the actual game that came out two years earlier

I've only played Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on 3DS and the controls felt fine. I really enjoyed that game a whole lot. How exactly is the game ruined for you based on the controls? Are the controls different from the previous 3DS game?

if you don't have a Circle Pad Pro or a New 3DS you have to use the gyroscope to rotate Luigi which sounds extremely cumbersome and I can't even think of how it's supposed to work, they would've been better off putting a digital stick on the touch screen, and I can't see the C-Stick nub on the New 3DS working that well either

besides that it looks like it controls exactly the same as the GameCube version

originally they wanted the game to have a glassesless 3D effect back when using a special GameCube accessory, but it was dropped because the accessory would've cost more than the system itself if they actually mass-produced it and sold it in stores

with the 3DS on its way out this was pretty much their last chance to get the game in 3D like they originally wanted

Like the translation...the dialogue feels so stiff, and even in my initial playthrough I was like "nobody talks that way!" (HGSS had this problem too, but it was especially obvious in Gen. 5)

The stories in Pokemon are just fluff, but people don't complain enough about the English scripts in HGSS and Gen V. It's when The Pokemon Company International took over localization duty for the games from Nintendo, and their scripts in those first three games were all exceedingly stiff. The only reason the script in HGSS isn't as bad as BW or B2W2 is that a lot of it is just ripped from Nintendo's DPPt or GSC localizations, supposedly even when the localized GSC script was heavily trimmed down due to space restrictions or the Japanese version of HGSS rewrote the line. But man, when there's something they couldn't just take from DPPt or GSC and edit a bit, it's really heinous. The woman behind the desk in Cliff Edge Gate is one example that sticks in my mind.

The English scripts in the 3DS games are still pretty stiff too, but it's not nearly as bad as those three.

I don't see the problem with that. Only thing you need to make it work is Red and Blue had their adventure earlier, Team Rocket never got in Red's way. Solves literally everything.

As for this being Masuda's last game as director that doesn't give me any good vibes because it's gonna be nothing but Ohmori's mild ride from here on out.

The next big thing will be beating the game using only your starter. You cant keep any other Pokmon in your party. Or is this already a thing?

That's one of the the easiest ways to play the first four generations, except Yellow. Pretty much every starter is at least usable fully evolved, and when they're soaking up all the experience you get disgustingly overleveled to the point type matchups don't even matter anymore. It wasn't until Gen V when they added experience scaling and Gen VI when they made it so the EXP Share generated extra experience instead of splitting it that the games actually start to incentivize using more than one good Pokemon.
TopicCan anyone explain to me exactly what Pokemon: Let's Go (Switch) is?
Second_Chances
11/10/18 5:06:10 PM

It's a barebones remake of Yellow meant specifically for people who have never played a mainline Pokemon game before. It features:

- Greater focus on interactions with the starter. It's always by your side on the overworld even if it's not in your active party, will regularly respond to the environment and events, plays a part in the story, can be dressed in various outfits, and you can play with it using the touch screen like the Amie and Refresh features in the 3DS games but apparently to a greater extent.
- Wild Pokemon encounters are no longer battles. Instead, they work similarly to Pokemon GO, where you have to manually throw Poke Balls to catch Pokemon. You aim with either motion controls or the analog stick, and some Pokemon will move erratically to dodge your Poke Balls. If you keep missing, or are just unlucky and they won't stay in the Poke Ball, they might run away. There are items you can use to make catching easier. So basically, it's Safari Zone rules at all times except you have to aim.
- Legendary Pokemon are still battled, and once you KO them you get a chance to throw Poke Balls. It's not known if you just get to keep throwing Poke Balls, if it's guaranteed at that point, or if they'll revive after enough failures.
- Connectivity with Pokemon GO, letting you transfer over Pokemon you've caught in it.
- Local co-op lets a second player take the other Joy-Con and help you catch Wild Pokemon or battle Trainers. A second person throwing Poke Balls can make it easier to hit moving targets, or if both of you throw a Poke Ball at the same time and they both hit, it can raise the catch rate. In Single Battles, you gang up on enemies 2v1, and in Double Battles the second player simply takes control of your second Pokemon.
- Many battle mechanics from later generations are missing. While all the changes made to stats seem to be present like Special becoming Sp. Atk and Sp. Def, or Natures, for actual mechanics it seems like only the Physical/Special move category split from Diamond and Pearl might be back. Hold Items from Gold and Silver and Abilities from Ruby and Sapphire are definitely gone.
- Only the first 151 plus two new Pokemon are in the game. The two new Pokemon need you to play Pokemon GO to obtain them.
- Mega Evolution from Pokemon X and Y, as well as Regional Forms from Pokemon Sun and Moon return. You can get Regional Forms from in-game trades, but if you want more than one, or one with your own nickname, you'll probably need to transfer them from GO. Some people think there may be new Mega Evolutions, due to new trademarks made for certain Pokemon, but I wouldn't bet on it.
- When you release Pokemon into the wild, you get "Candy" items which can be used to raise stats.
- Any of your Pokemon can follow you on the overworld.
- There are some story changes like the main character and rival being explicitly different characters from the ones in the originals. Red and Blue appear as their own characters, as well as the unused female protagonist Green, probably in some short post-game story.
- HMs are gone. Instead you get Key Items that you use with your starter that serve the same purpose.
- The game goes out of its way more to hold the player's hand. For example, to enter Gyms you need to first catch or raise a Pokemon that meets a certain requirement, such as being of a super-effective type or a certain level. You don't have to use those Pokemon once you get in, though.
- There's a special Joy-Con shaped like a Poke Ball made only for this game, so it's like you're really throwing those Poke Balls. You can store a Pokemon inside for a not quite virtual pet-like experience. It can also be used with Pokemon GO to catch Pokemon without having to unlock your phone. It's like $40~$50.
- At the moment, the only way to get Mew is as a bonus for buying that Joy-Con.
- There's online multiplayer, but only with friends.

That's basically everything both appealing and off-putting about the game.

Gen 2's enemy teams are so bad you shouldn't have any trouble fighting the E4 even underleveled

it's the only one that's actually well balanced or has any form of character building, even if the Augment system could be much better than it is, and it expands on the story in an unintrusive way with the ability to view your party member's thoughts on recent developments in the pause menu

I've heard the mobile and PC ports of the DS version adds another sidequest and a bonus dungeon similar to the one on the GBA and PSP and in which case that version is clearly the best, because the bonus dungeon is all the non-DS versions have going for them unless you're allergic to the chibi models

Cyber Sleuth is good, decent story and characters, excellent atmosphere and it's got a good sense of progression with your Digimon, but if you don't know the tricks to trivialize grinding it might be tedious to get the Digimon you want. Maybe a bit too easy and I hear Hard Mode just inflates stats.

Hacker's Memory is what I'd call an "expansion sequel", Pokemon B2W2 is another example of such a thing. All the maps are reused and there aren't many new Digimon, but there are plenty of new maps too and the story is brand new. Balancing is a bit better. I don't see how the story is worse like some people are saying. You should probably only play this after the original Cyber Sleuth.

Next Order is like the original Digimon World in that it's basically an RPG or adventure game mixed with a virtual pet. Which if you ask me is a great premise, and it worked the last two times, but Next Order felt really sloppy with its story progression.
