My dad is a pretty hardcore gamer, and was the one that got me, my brother, and my sister into gaming coming up. He used to rent a different game every single friday for the nes, snes, genesis, or playstation...pretty much how I played and beat a ton of games coming up. Had to make it as far as we could in those 3 days, lol. His favorite genres is run n' gun games like contra, ikari warriors, metal slug, and guerrilla war, those top down/side scrolling plane shooters like gradius and r-type, and beat'em ups.

He also loves sports games (a genre that I grew up hating with a passion, whereas my dad and older brother loved them. Used to kick me off the snes and nes when I would be playing a rpg too long or something, and they were ready to play games like tecmo bowl, bases loaded, double dribble etc. = ( ), and really hated rpgs and strategy games like shining force. (My favorite genres pretty much. He has no clue why I used to love those games where "all you do is friggin' read" like final fantasy 3 (6). I used to come back at him with "well if you like sports so much, go out and play it". He did go to the gym on the regular though to play basketball, lmao).

Nowadays, he mostly just stick to playing all the metal slug games on the pc, MAME arcade games, and playing a ton of fan-made beat'em up games, like that pretty cool streets of rage fan game). He has a PS3, but mainly just uses it to play stuff like scott pilgrim vs the world or double dragon neon.

My mom hates games though. She tried to play super mario bros. back when we first got a nes once....she fell down the first hole that you come across, and never touched a console game ever again. The most she will play nowadays is cell phone stuff like candy crush or solitaire.

I used to get a shit ton of hate mail in my gears of war 1, 2, and 3 days. I have played tons of online 360 and PS3/PS4 games since then, but nothing ever came close to how much rage I would recieve in the gears of war series, lol. Gears of war 3 would give you the most hate mail if you really knew what you were doing with either the sawd off shotty or the retro lancer, lmao.

I don't recall getting a single hate message on the PS3, and on the PS4 I only ever got like, 4 hate mail messages from playing overwatch on and off since release.

I have all of them. I only bought a xbox when the slim gears of war 4 bundle came out. (I'm a gears fan, so gears 4 and scalebound (lol) were the two main games I bought the xbox one for). I ended up not liking gears of war 4 as much as gears of war 3, =( Gears 3's horde mode is way better, and as much as I love the new mechanics gears 4 introduced for versus (pulling dudes from cover and doing the roadie run+vault), gears of war 3's versus is still better overall because of the imo better maps and a wider variety of weapons.

Nowadays, the xbox one is only used to play backwards compatible 360 games, cuphead, and as my cablebox.

I was a friggin' twig, all the way up until highschool. I was constantly sick growing up, and rarely ate (I was small enough that my doctor used to give me prescriptions for cases of that ensure drink, from 5th grade to 9th grade, lol). I was pretty tall though with that freshly new goatee action going, so I was basically shaggy from scooby doo.

I have always heard that its because of the game's heavy reliance on cross promotion. Getting the license to release all that anime and whatever else stuff in the west would probably be a nightmare for them.

Around 13 I think of tales of symphonia.

My most played is phantasy star online, hands down. 5 different characters on 5 different vmus for pso version 1 and 2 on dreamcast. 12 Characters across multiple memory cards for pso episode 1 and 2 on gamecube. Then, another 8 characters on episode 1 and 2 on the xbox. Finally, I made a character on the official blue burst servers. All these characters were at least over level 100, which required you to beat the game multiple times to get to the higher difficulties...very hard on version 1, ultimate on the rest.

I really, really loved me some pso, lol.

I watched an extremely long documentary on that chris-chan dude once. It was like, 3 hours if I remember right. I never heard of the guy before I seen that random twitter video of him breaking down at some sort of convention, so I got mad curious and wanted to know who this dude is and like, what he is about.

.....that was definitely the most interesting 3 hour youtube video I ever seen, lol.

The gears of war series used to be pretty damn bad (I like to believe that the gears of war community was so awful that it helped microsoft come up with the party chat idea/update on the 360, released just in time for gears of war 2), but nowadays its definitely been overtaken by the stuff already stated in this topic.

Used to love both final fight 3 and golden axe 3 back in the day because they had those special input moves you can do. Same with streets of rage 3 and the weapon attacks with different characters.

Dungeons and dragons arcade probably my favorite. The 2nd one.

The more modern stuff like god hand, castle crashers, and scott pilgrim vs the world is great.

It all depends on the model you get for this. You are going to want the led tvs with FALD type lighting. The north american version of the Q8FN and all the Q9F models have FALD lighting, so does sony's X900F off the top of my head (also, how many zones a TV has for lighting matters a lot also). The Q6F still uses classic edge-lit lighting, so the black levels (one of the best things you want to go for, for some good looking HDR) isn't going to be as good as the higher tier stuff , but again, according to rtings its still pretty good, and the price is really nice.

Picking rod is usually the way to go in kingdom hearts 1, since there is no way to improve your magic attack like there is defense and attack. (magic attack goes up with your maximum magic stat. Picking rod gives you more than you would get with shield). When I played through KH1 final mix, I picked rod, dropped sword and pretty much spanked the game. You get that ripple and stun move mad early, and those two moved put in work, lol.

As far as how hard it is, its not too bad. Definitely harder than the base game, but ya' can handle it.

Also, for the questions I always chose to leave at dusk. I prefer the faster leveling rate at late game. By then, you will have super stronk thundaga, and can use that to mindlessly power level at hollow bastion or traverse town once all the strong monsters show up there.

Even though its not on your list, I picked up the samsung 55 inch Q8FN the other week since that also had a nice price drop recently, and this TV is pretty damn gorgeous (the sunsets in red dead redemption 2 is like, whoa man, just whoa). The blacks is damn near just as good as LG's oleds. The Q6F, at least according to rtings, rates pretty damn good also, and apparently also has pretty good black levels. Also with the input lag, seems like these line of TVs were just made for gaming (along with the freesync mode for pc gaming if that is your thing).

I would go for the Q6F.

Target is having all playstation VR bundles for 100 bucks off I believe. I have always wanted to try VR, but never felt like paying the prices they was asking for (Because I know its one of those things where I will enjoy it for like a month or so, then it wil go unused for a long-ass time. Basically like my switch right now). The doom VR bundle will be like 188 dollars on sale, so that will be low enough for me to try it out.

I know someone that got spoiled on rdr2's ending just by casually watching a random overwatch stream. What happened was someone made a comment spoiling the game, and the streamer read the comment out aloud, =/ lol *The streamer also was pretty pissed*

Its at that point where its better to not bother with any random videos for any random game if you are playing a super hyped up release. (Same thing goes for movies. I pretty much know the entirety of avengers infinity war just by watching random gaming streams).

I own a PS4 pro, a xbone slim and a switch, but I only pay for ps plus. The xbox was only bought to play gears of war 4 (which, I am kind of "meh" about overall. Gears 3 still remains my favorite online horde and king of the hill wise), and the switch....eh, I'll probably get a month or two when smash releases. If it lags to hell what with vast majority no doubt using terrible wifi, then I probably won't be paying for nintendo's service for long.

Yep. Sometimes kids, especially teenagers, just start wild'n out if you get a huge group of them in one spot. To them, they are just "messing around", killing time and whatnot. *I say this as someone that grew up around a ton of dudes and girls that did stupid shit like this*.

Reminds of the time my older brother had a rock thrown at his car window when he was pulling out of the parking lot at a walgreens. There was a huge group of teens gathered in that parking lot at around 12 midnight or so, and from what he said they all looked around 16 or so. One of the teens just up and randomly threw a huge ass rock at his window, busted it and whatnot. Of course when he got out the car, they scattered to the four winds (and no one gets punished because something something security cameras didn't catch anything).

Its pretty stupid, but it is what it is. Growing up near a hood or rural area where dudes are bored with nothing better to do, you tend to see stupid stuff like the above from time to time.

Seems to be mostly to be an extremely vocal online forum poster thing to me. The vast majority of people I talk to on a regular basis (like, off the internet/IRL) do not really give a shit one way or the other, or is just the type that prefers going to the store to pick up their own games in compared to buying online.

Personally, I find it convenient being able to quickly unload the flavor of the month AAA type of games to get either 30 or 25 back during their first month or two of release and either saving the credit or just moving on to the next "game of the month" compared to bothering with craigslist, ebay, or amazon to sell off the type of games I won't be replaying.

As cool as certain genesis stuff like beyond oasis, landstalker, sonic 1-3/sonic and knucks, phantasy star 2 and 4, streets of rage 2-3, golden axe 3, x-men 2, shining force 1-2, and the very few genesis 3rd party ports that was better like wrestlemania the arcade game, rocket knight adventures the SNES was just flat out better. As the one kid on my block and throughout my family that owned a SNES day one (I eventually got a genesis like, a year and a half later), peeps were dying to come over and play it.

I hate to say it, but the genesis at the end of the day always felt like that console that kids got if their parents did not have enough money to get a SNES back when the SNES was pretty expensive for the first two years or so it was out. (I have no shame admitting that the main reason I probably even got my SNES on day 1 of it's NA release is because I got in an extremely bad car accident that left me with a good deal of money for the time).

As someone that grew up in south carolina and regularly went to georgia during the summer as a kid, give me the 10 degrees please. I am absolutely miserable in heat. It gets so hot in the summers that like someone else said, the central air just can't keep up at times, lol.

Yeah. My dad prefers beat'em ups like double dragon, the combatribes, that one beat'em up namco made on the ps2 that I am having a hard time remembering the name of, looked like it used the same engine tekken uses, and run n' gun games like contra, gunstar heroes, metal slug etc. He is pretty much the reason I loved games so much coming up...he used to rent a different game for either the nes, snes, genesis, or playstation 1 every friday from the local rental places around my area. When it comes to how far down in the console generation he kept playing current games on, he stopped at the PS3, lol. He has his own PS3 that he mostly just uses for youtube, netflix and whatnot.

My mom never was a gamer like the rest of the family. The most I will ever see her play is things like solitaire, candy crush, farming games and stuff like that.

My aunt was ridiculously good at old-school arcade games like donkey kong, pac man, and 1942.

Less serious answer: Too busy playing street fighter/tekken, smash bros, nba 2k, or madden tournaments.

Serious business answer if this isn't a bait topic (probably is though, but whateves, ain't like nothing much else is going on atm, lol): PC Esports in general is a more "privileged kid" thing. Vast majority of the type of dudes that is in actual esport teams grew up in well-off families, and had access to decent/good/great gaming PCs and the time to sit around to play their asses off in their teenage years. Your average kid that didn't have access to PC building money growing up isn't going to be nowhere near being in these tkind of teams, or having the years of experience PC gamin' to be on that level.

Its also the reason why the fighting game community in general has that good old "for everyone" feeling and you see a vast majority of minorities playing....a carry over from the old arcade days, when poorer kids was able to play along with everyone else since all it took was a quarter to beat someone ass. Color didn't matter in the arcades....all it took was lining them up on the cabinet, wait your turn, then prove your might, lol.
