Pre release, it seemed like everybody was making all these needless additions to be these amazing gameplay boosters when somebody more fair minded could see...they weren't. Purely from hype.

I think in theory a lot of this stuff *could* be good or at least tolerable in the sense that it could add to the immersion of the game. A sort of weird example but I remember watching west world and loving the concept of the park itself and how cool it would be to play around in a real life equivalent. So for whatever reason I see all this busy work and think it could push rdr2 in that general direction.

However it's also true that the immersive qualities are severely limited by hardware and control options. Yes, this stuff is realistic in theory but how immersive can it be if every action comes down to a button press or stick move? One review also criticised the context dependant interactions with npcs for being less deep than they make you think at first, which sounds like it might inhibit the playground aspect.

For example if your name is Yung-fun and one of your several forms says "Yung fun", BOOM, you're out. Names coming from different alphabets, such as korean are especially problematic. Think about it, Bruce Lee could have been Bruce Le or Bruce Li (yes, I know he was from hong kong). Maybe some dumb data capture person spelled Lee wrong once... BOOM, deport.

I think the film itself came out in like 2012/13 but can't be sure

It was a dystopia sci fi type setting (although I think it would best be described as sci fi lite it wasn't really massively fleshed out or anything iirc) but the central plot focused on two people being tragically separated. I think they were lovers but idk. There may have been some sort of mind programming element I can't remember honestly.

Anyway, the name of it was like 'one more day' or 'one day' or something. I think the book itself is relatively recent also.

I remember the book cover being of a type that became very popular at the time, it was like a side view two faces of a certain colour (blue or orange iirc) facing each other
