| Guerrilla Soldier 09/01/18 1:21:57 PM #22 | black was great because of the speed, the intensity, the atmosphere/presentation, and it still had old school ideas (unlocks, cheats, etc) that were disappearing by the PS2 days. it's a ton of fun and all of the characters/stories are really interesting. 2 was great because it was easy to maneuver, the stories were cool, and the gameplay was fun without slowing down too much. 1 was great because it's like the older, more serious brother. everything takes a little more work but the atmosphere is there. heaviness of the car adds a certain realistic feel that the rest of the games dropped. TMPS3 was ... decent, but it focused too much on online multiplayer while having the absolute worst servers and network play of all time. bugs everywhere. single player and stories were an afterthought and the whole thing lost its identity. 3 is sloppy and silly, like a bad knockoff of what had come before it. 4 took it to another level of dogshit and really did its best to put the lamest and most embarrassing things out there. small brawl, while easier to play and way more fun than 3 and 4, suffered from a terrible story/idea and felt like it was supposed to be a shit version of what everyone loved. head-on, like small brawl, was easier and fun but it lacked that identity. it felt too much like a psp game: limited, stiffer, less budget, etc. not a bad game, probably the fourth best in the series, but still didn't live up to the identity that 2 and black had established. --- Disclaimer: There's a good chance the above post could be sarcasm.
