Actually a lot of the public in general is into Super, not just the anime community (heck I see a lot of Anime fans hate the people who just watch Dragon Ball and nothing else) I see more people with Dragon Ball stuff like keychains or shirts on the streets these days than five years ago.

Dragon Ball was at it's peak the same time Squaresoft was, and a lot of the PS 1/2 crowd probably played stuff like Budokai and even those awful PS1 fighters out of franchise hype. And hell look how popular Pokemon has been the last few contests, another anime pioneer from the same era.

You're probably underestimating how many people follow Super, especially since Dragon Ball is the most popular it's been since the early 2000's and Super is huge nostalgia bait. I know Super wasn't that popular at first (because of the lame movie retreads) but it definitely picked up when people saw that Future Trunks came back. And the fact the Broly is canon now is also huge news that got more people into super.

Even disregarding that the Cell arc is obviously the second most popular arc, it's the first arc where Super Saiyans became main characters besides Goku, and 18 and 17 were the first characters to defeat a Super Saiyan.

What makes the blue hair worse is that they flashback to scenes from History of Trunks and he has blue hair there too. I think they even also flash backed to reused DBZ footage with purple hair so who knows what's going on with that.

And nobody seems to recognize Pilaf for some reason, you'd think Oolong, Yamcha, Bulma or Puar would recognize someone who tried to kill them and summoned Shenron.

I don't think anyone is surprised they're all but officially canceled, but they should at least give 3DS backers a code for Mighty Gunvolt Burst with all DLC for putting them through this (especially since it's a better game) and I guess a Steam code for Vita backers, but Comcept and Inafune have vanished off the face of the earth after being acquired by Level-5. Also lol Red Ash the game, apparently the Fuze company funding the game is rumored to have gone bankrupt.

3DS is at death's door soon and Vita is only active in Japan so there's not much of a market there anyway.

To people who played FF8 Seifer is unlikeable douchebag, he's your stereotypical high school jock (think Flash Thompson, hell he even looks like him) and for how tough he acts he's laughably easy in all of his boss fights, even if you don't abuse the game's broken mechanics and he never really has any cool moments besides the opening FMV and cutting Odin in two, and even then Gilgamesh steals the scene.

People were assuming he'd beat Celes since he's Squall's "Sephiroth" and appeared in Kingdom Hearts 2 and Celes easily lost to the boss, on top of that she had unrecognizable Amano art in the match. Image how bad she'd beat Seifer with this pic.

Paper Mario is a diffrent person from normal Mario thanks to Mario and Luigi Paper Jam where it shows that the Paper Mario games take place in an alternate dimension inside a book in Peach's Castle.

I definitely would love to see Paper Mario as newcomer, he has plenty to work with to make him a unique character.

Terra should be Sakurai's next pick for Smash. I know a lot of people are on team Vivi/Black Mage, but Terra just feels right to me. FFVI is one of the biggest and most beloved SNES games. If Cloud can make it in just cuz he walked on screen once in Chain of Memories, then Terra definitely deserves a spot.

Terra and Bartz actually were characters considered before Cloud when Sakurai was discussing a Final Fantasy guest with Nomura, they ended up going with Cloud anyway because they felt he was the most recognizable worldwide (most SNES RPGs didn't get a PAL release probably had to do with that)

I actually really like the idea of Bartz in Smash since with his job system he can turn into iconic faces of the franchise like a Black Mage/Dragoon/Spellblade ala Pokemon Trainer and his freelancer already has the iconic Fighter sprite look and he would represent a lot of the Nintendo era Final Fantasy in one character. But since FFV is somewhat obscure he probably won't get in.
