The creator only has some say over what genre their creation falls into. If the Monty Python crew came out and said Holy Grail was a Sci-Fi Thriller and not a comedy, that wouldn't make it a sci-fi thriller. Something is in a genre or not depending on if it shares the same traits as other things in its genre. That's also why there's so much debate about whether Smash counts as a fighting game or not. While it does share many traits of other fighting games, it also diverges from quite a few as well. --- "She was like, 'Oh, did you see that firefighter? Hes so cute.' If they can get ahold of a third party game, they're always going for the hero first, and they're not likely to pull multiple characters from the same third party game/series (excluding Echo characters).
