If you got a review copy from nintendo they might have guidelines and blacklist you for violating them, but nintendo can't decide reviewers aren't allowed to show specific parts of the game and have the authority to claim any videos that contains that footage Darmik posted... I don't think the issue was with video reviewers anyway. It was an issue with literally any video content that contained footage from nintendo games or trailers, since nintendo was claiming all of them Darmik posted... Besides when it comes to being a YouTube uploader you have next to no legal rights lol You absolutely have legals rights. The issue is most youtubers have no recourse when those rights are violated by a major corporation. Really it just seems like you have a poor understanding of the issue in general. --- |

They're not a studio who makes WRPG's that lets you control the story. They give a pretty free open world and offer a variety of linear stories within it. This is how they've always functioned. When I talk about the role playing aspects being better in three, i'm referring more to the character building aspects. The streamlining of Perks, Skills and S.P.E.C.I.A.L all into what is essentially a skill tree all but eliminated the differentiation between character builds. Bethesda has never made anything like new vegas because they refuse to evolve as a studio, and that's becoming clearer to people. Lots of studios have evolved when it comes to making open world RPGs, so people are becoming loss tolerable of bethesda's stagnation over time. --- |

| Frolex 11/20/18 10:09:56 PM #43 | It's true that a lot of the problems in 4 started with 3, but i think most people's complaint is more that they they didn't improve in fallout 4. people were more charitable with the issues in 3 for a number of reasons, it being bethesda's first attempt at fallout, it being the first time fallout was made into a 3d real time action rpg etc. but by the time fallout 4 came out, not only had the RPG and open world genres progressed immensely over the decade between releases, but fallout itself had a release in new vegas that fixed many of the issues people had with 3 and proved that the full classic fallout experience could indeed fit into the fallout 3 formula. fallout 4 was step back not only from it's competition at the time, but from the previous release in the series, and that made it's flaws all the more apparent. Plus, i'd argue it was still even a step back compared to three in some areas, especially the role playing aspects and the lack of actual settlements. --- |

But let's be real here; bethesda's game engine isn't a whole lot different than it was nearly two decades ago. It's why (supposedly) you can spawn Fallout 4 assets within the Morrowind creation kit. As for what's behind Bethesda's stagnation as a developer, their engine is more part of a feedback loop with their overall philosophy as a studio. They had a huge hit with the formula of morrowind, and their games have sold well enough that they haven't been forced to innovate on that formula in any meaningful way. and part of the reason they haven't is because their engine has grown increasingly obviously dated since the release of morrowind. It's why Obsidian had to jury rig the shit of it just to get a few basic functions like slot machines and guns that reload one round at a time into New Vegas. It's why there are no forms of travel in their games that move faster than a cantering horse in their games, because the engine starts to fall to pieces once the player starts moving quicker than 20mph or so. It's why there's specific bugs that have existed in every one of their titles since morrowind. They don't innovate since they're working from a severally outdated set of tools, and they have an outdated set of tools because they don't innovate. It's worked out for them so far because people are still responsive to the morrowind formula, but fallout 76 proves they clearly are literally incapable of anything else at this point. --- |
