honestly my favorite is 2. i thought it had the most interesting variety of levels, weapons, gimmicks, & what little story there was clicked with me. 3 is good but the combat is too floaty, and im playing 1 now but so far it is really good

Yeah. Am I actually meant to be fighting him, or just using another route to escape? Like I said, I've barely made a dent in his energy. Seems like a very hard boss, and absolutely ridiculous for the beginning of the game? Can't find the key to the door, though. It occurred that one of those zombie things might have it, especially the tough looking armoured one, but I can't beat any of them.

when you get into the big room the boss falls from the ceiling. immediately book it behind the boss and to your left and go through the door there. you'll go around and get a key, your estus flasks, etc. then you'll end up going through a fog door and when you do you can do a plunging attack and chunk out like half of the boss's health.

from there you just have to fight him, welcome to dark souls lol. dark souls is absolutely a hard game and anyone telling you otherwise is just trying to show off their 1337 gaming skillZ, but the game is pretty manageable and fair once you learn how the combat works and how to approach each level.

enjoy, dark souls is easily one of my favorite video game franchises of all time

Do you prefer Dark Souls or Bloodborne? I found B.B. much more accessible but Id like to go back to DS one day.

i can't handle bloodborne at all, it is way too difficult for me. i had to use a summon just to beat the first boss lol. it's too fast paced for me i think

That isn't all though. I talked to a mutual friend of ours and she told me some things really candidly. Our friend said that after seeing Boogie in person my girlfriend was really weirded out. Because I cried a little bit there and there were other men crying too. (I didn't think this was fair, there is no shame in crying.) Also that she felt like following Boogie's advice made me kind of less fun and more boring than how I was when we met at 17. Basically that she thought I became a little too "obsessed" with him. She also said that my girlfriend thought some of the things Boogie said about relationships were chauvinistic and unrealistic. And then she (not my girlfriend but our friend) said she researched Boogie and that he hated women and kind of scolded me. I told her that was just GameFAQs propaganda, that Boogie wasn't really like that and she just didn't understand him. She said I was "talking down" to her and that is why my girlfriend left me. (I don't think she left me she never said she didn't want to see me any more btw.)

Anyway what do I do? How do I fix this and get our friend and my girlfriend to be okay with Boogie2988?

It did not go as well as I hoped. Let me give you a bit of a back story.

I found out about Boogie2988 about a year ago and since then I became a huge fan. I was never a big YouTube fan, but I watched all of his videos. (They are the only videos on my YouTube favorites list, and also a video about John F. Kennedy my aunt sent me but I never watched. So I don't have many videos and its a small list.)

I am 19 years old now. I met my girlfriend when we were 17 in high school. When I was 18 I moved out and began to go to the local university. My girlfriend is the same age as I am and she started classes there too. When I moved out is around the time I started watching Boogie's work and I took the battle against obesity to heart. Mostly because I was a very overweight person before. So I kept my new diet very clean (I have a roommate who helps) and I was finally able to dress the way that I wanted since I lost weight. Mostly I kept my style simple and tasteful but I also have a big T-shirt with Boogie's face on it that I wear frequently.

When I began to see how important Boogie2988 had become in my life I started trying to get my girlfriend interested. But she did not seem very interested. I thought he could help her a lot, because when we met and she lived at home she was a very casual gamer and overweight person also. We both were then. Since she moved out also and got a roommate it has gotten even worse for her. I would say her weight is about fifty percent heavier than it was. She is slouching a lot. She is also very disorganized with her classes and note taking (somehow she is still getting all As, I got all As too my first semester but I also got two Cs). I can't even read or understand the notes she takes for her class. I tried to tell her to be more organized and less chaotic with it, that it would help her more, but I think it got annoying for her to hear it.

Anyway when we would hang out I would try to get her to listen to Boogie's videos but it always seemed like a chore or like she didn't really want to. I found it really frustrating because he was so inspiring for me. Eventually I stopped putting them on because I would hear and see her sigh in an exaggerated way when I would put YouTube on with his videos.

Not long ago it was coming up on the day that we met (our anniversary) and we had a nice dinner at a seafood place we both really like. A few days later I got us tickets to see Boogie do a panel at a local convention. I had hoped that it would be better than the videos. She seemed excited to go and we had a nice night together.

The next day we didn't talk, which is normal these days with school and stuff. I sent her a text message the day after and she didn't respond which I thought was weird. Then I did it the day after and still no response. She didn't write back to me for four days! Until I sent her a long message just asking for an explanation for why she ghosted me or at least let me know she is okay.

A few days later she finally sent me a long email. She said that she wanted some space and that she needed to think. That things were changing and that they weren't the same as they were. She actually blamed Boogie for changing me! Which is true but I thought I changed for the better. She said I was being really strict with the clean eating now and that I was saying too much about her being a casual gamer. That I wasn't fun any more. And also she said that she wanted to see other people and that she wasn't sure I was the person she wanted to be with forever in a relationship. This was very disappointing to see her go against monogamous relationships.

gta is one of the few franchises that gets crazy sales & has a lot of mainstream appeal while simultaneously being praised by critics and "gamers" (durr).

but then when you talk about the games you realize they're kind of ass. half the story in GTA games tends to be filler (i.e. most of what you do during the exile from los santos part in san andreas) & then a good portion of the actual missions in the game are poop as well.

you're controlling a crane or a tow truck or flying a model airplane or dropping someone off at the strip club or w/e. does anyone even like doing that shit?

why do the GTA games always get a free pass? i have played & enjoyed all the GTA games but every now and then i think about the games critically and come to this conclusion.

to a lesser extent this phenomena also applies to the Halo franchise, but ill rant about that later

Fun Fact: While in the US it's something you do while on the train or whatever, in Asia, mobile gaming is a really big deal.

Wangzhe Rongyao, known as Arena of Valor in the US, is a smartphone MOBA game that is extremely popular in China. By sheer player count it is the most played video game in the entire world, with reportedly over 80 million DAU (Daily Active Users) and 200 million MAU (Monthly Active Users). However, the vast majority of the playerbase is located in China, with a few million from Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Anyway, my point is that this game, and to a lesser extent other smartphone games, are a big deal. You'll notice that Arena of Valor was actually ported to the Nintendo Switch, and there are rumors that Nintendo is reportedly trying to sell the Switch in China in 2019.

So now it's a case of these massive smartphone companies trying to preemptively beat Nintendo before the Switch gets sold in China and cannibalizes the smartphone gaming crowd.

just saw these on my reddit feed this morning so i figured I'd share, it is very interesting to me to see how little things like smartphone games or w/e are so different in other countries
