It's not about volume or debilitation. It's about whether or not you can honestly stop drinking. If you can start drinking and put it down and not have any type of abnormal reaction/obsessive thoughts about alcohol or drinking you're not an alcoholic. When an alcoholic drinks they can't stop thinking about alcohol and when they'll get their next drink. They may have dry periods but once they pick up their first drink it's on again. The obsessive thoughts are what makes someone an alcoholic.

A normal drinker doesn't sit at work and think, "Man, I can't wait to get out of here so I can go to the store and buy a fifth so I can get drunk tonight." and then obsessively think about it all day. A normal drinker may think, "Can't wait to have a beer with my friends tonight!" as a casual thought but they won't think about it all. day. long. obsessively.

Alcoholics also have a physical craving for alcohol. When they're not drinking their body WANTS them to be drinking. So much so that they can actually have a physical pain. Or when they start drinking and don't drink as much as they'd like or they don't get drunk they get a physical pain because of it because they want and need more alcohol to be satisfied.

When I used to drink almost every day if I'd go out to dinner and only drink one drink I'd just sit there and think when, "When are we going to be done so I can go home and get shit faced" and I'd have such a bad feeling in my stomach because that's all I wanted. It's a sad way to live. It's not fun at all.

And honestly, now I have almost 6 months sober and I JUST completed FIVE MONTHS of treatment and I still have thoughts of how I want to drink. I don't get the physical craving, thank goodness. But I sit and think about how I could be drinking or how much less bored I'd feel if I were drunk right now. Sometimes I salivate thinking about drinking. But it's not worth it because if I start drinking I'm going to waste everything I just did and I'm going to be in a fucking canyon again and I just crawled out after 13 years of active alcoholism. I'm only 29.

pretty much this. thing about addiction in my experience though, is if you enjoyed it. the thoughts never go away. pretty much ever. they may become far less frequent but it will always eventually cross your mind again.

I haven't done drugs in pushing a decade. but once in a while that urge creeps into mind.

In what kind of world do you live in where alcohol tastes like anything other than poison?

Do you drink for the taste? Be honest.

When I do... yes I do. Do you think theres no reason that there are all different types of alcohol made with all different flavors? Just because you dont like something doesn't mean other people dont. I've plenty of different beers and cocktails that tasted delicious

You sound like the kind of guy who would buy alcohol free beer, for the taste.

Are you really saying you drink alcohol for the taste? Not for the fact it takes away emotional pain? makes ugly girls attractive? Makes mundane things fun, makes you not care about anything?

You sound like the kind of person who thinks everyone drinks alcohol to get drunk. Truth is, I love the taste of alcohol, but I hate being drunk. I hate even being buzzed because it makes me feel weird. That is why my alcohol intake is usually only one or two for a night. Hell, if someone told me to stop drinking for a month I would have no trouble doing it (in fact I have done it in the past).

Not everyone who likes beer is an alcoholic. If that were the case we wouldn't have craft beers that cost $10 a bottle, everyone would be drinking Nattie Ice.

yeah my grandad drank enough beer a day for a person to get drunk. but he drank them so slow he never got drunk. he claimed he actually liked the taste. in the mornings and during the work day it was coffee, but once he got home all he drank was beer, but it would take him over a hour to finish one can

you can drink everyday and not be an alcoholic. alcoholic is when you have an actual dependence on it. where you feel the need to have it. if you drink everyday though you'll likely become one.

like I can go months without drinking or I can drink everyday. I go back and forth based on my mood and if I can get away with it. (as in it effecting performance at work) but i've been a alcoholic before, and I can say with confidence, these days i'm just a drunk. I never feel I HAVE to drink. I just want to. what made me realize the difference is one day I caught myself digging under my bed for pocket change just so I could afford to buy 1 drink. not enough to get drunk but just enough to put a dent in that urge. thats the day I realized I had a problem. anytime I get close to that again I take a break.

Goth, to me, is more of a style of wear and clothing than anything else. Usually all black, heavier emphasis on make-up than punk, and more reserved.

goth tends to be anti establishment as well. just not as loud about it, and not every person I suppose. I always viewed goths as the quieter darker versions of punk.

I was goth myself younger but didn't really talk to many others even the other goths.

It is not like Sega loses anything from a "stolen" copy of PSO.

Yep.

Most fun way to do it.

You can even hook up usb keyboard for chatting just like on gc back in the day.

Ill probably sell my copy if I can find it. Average copy of pso 1&2+ is going for 200 minimum it seems. I got my copy for around 70 a couple years back.

Still pisses my beat friend off. He tried selling his copy a decade or so ago and GameStop legit refused to buy it because their system calculated it was worth less than a penny.

Fast forward to closer to this year some local game store wanted to charge him 160 for it.

Jeans aren't the most comfortable to sleep in. And I would probably still want a shirt on so my body isn't two very different temps. But if I wore something like sweatpants for some weird reason, I would probably do the same. When I'm home or have access to sleep clothes, I usually change just to be at an optimum comfort level.

I sleep in jeans all the time. I stopped with specific sleep clothes as a kid so I guess I'm just really used to it.

Only reason I take my shirt off is because sometimes I toss and turn and end up with the collar pulled tight across my throat and it's just uncomfortable

Either they think it's more effort, they're embarrassed to it, or they think the dog would have better luck on the streets than a shelter given how many kill animals they can't place. Keep in mind that a lot of people don't understand the notion of domestication and say crap like, "Well, it's a wild animal, it'll do okay going back to nature!"

That logic works for SOME cats. Particularly if they already spend most of their time outside and have proven to be capable hunters.

Still don't like abandoning pets though. But I've had a cat or two just never come back home but see them at a much later date doing just fine.

Both cases where less assholish than normal though as both got dumped somewhere they would be taken care of. One in the fenced in backyard of a old woman and the other thrown over the fence of the shelter (found the next day so was likely dumped while it was closed)

Both cases I ended up having the dogs shoved off on me without me wanting them but in hindsight I'm happy it happened

You have to posses it to use it. It's not like it magically appears in their veins.

Let's put it this way: You use heroin, you OD, the people with you get rid of all the heroin and paraphernalia before the authorities show up, what happens?

What's the legal charge?

Well, what I'm wondering is.....Demi Lovato admitted to being addicted to heroin. And she has even gone to rehab.

Now, I'm not a wealthy celebrity....I actually live in the real world.....so I'm not sure exactly how this works.

Upon admitting her problem, were the authorities involved in any way? Can you just walk into a rehab clinic with no questions asked? Can the police walk into rehab clinics and ask people questions about the drugs they took, where they got them? What is the name and address of their dealers, etc?

Because, the way I see it, being a rational human being.........if cops did that, and people REFUSED to cooperate, they'd be aiding and abetting.

Has anyone even asked where Demi Lovato was getting her heroin from? Because I don't think anyone has asked that. And I find that pretty strange.

Yes you can go to rehab for illegal drugs and not get arrested. I know a woman who did this. Wasn't cheap but her family pooled money together to help her out. Think she said it cost 16k for her.

Going to rehab is showing you are trying to stop doing it so they aren't going to punish you for that.
