I'm epileptic. People often joke about seizures. Hell, Adam Sandler did it in Eight Crazy Nights. Having one, you know that it feels awful afterwards. Seeing someone you care about having one is truly horrifying.

So do I get offended when people imitate seizures or refer to them in jest? I don't appreciate it, but I know that they don't have the same experiences that I have. It's easier to be offended initially but as you get older you learn that not caring is easier in the long run.

The flag doesn't bother me but I do question the noose a bit. A quick Google search suggest hanging was used heavily until the 1940's for execution of criminals so the shirt technically isn't wrong. Still, given the history of lynching as a whole, probably not the best combination to display publicly.

They say if you are a grown ass adult...you should be in control of your emotions. That you are only as offended as you allow yourself to be. That you should get a "thicker skin" if you can't take a differing opinion, an insult, an insensitive joke, etc.

I think thats amazing. People had literal slaves.. and the people who were the slaves were barely seen as people. And there were people that wanted to stop that.

It says a lot about people that anybody would even have the idea man, this free labor.. is wrong!

Most people were not direct beneficiaries of slavery, in the sense that the free labor wasn't a common good.

I dont think Abraham Lincoln hated black people. I think he saw them as lesser people, if people at all, but I dont think he held animosity or hatred toward them.
