The singer sounds great, the rest of the band has quite a ways to go before they play at the same level as Zep though.

You're paying for the employee either way. You can either do it through tipping or you can do it through higher menu prices.

If you have a $33 bill and you tip $7 you're paying 40 dollars. "That sucks, tipping is greedy! Let's get rid of it!"
Ok, now your bill is $40 and you tip $0. "Awesome, social justice achieved!"

Tipping simply makes a waiter more of a contract employee who does business with you more directly instead of through the establishment. Kind of like strippers, actually. Where's the campaign to pay strippers a living wage so we don't have to tip them??

It is better because service workers get consistent wages and aren't left to the whims of the customers.

Also better on the customers part because they will know exactly what they are paying for their meal and not have to worry about under or over tipping

I eat meat, but even so I can still acknowledge that most domesticated animals live miserable lives and that our societal ethics seem to not align with the administration of mass meat farming.

They live miserable lives in the wild too. That's just par for the course with being an animal. By human standards, it's a shit life.

Miserable lives how? Because they have to fend for themselves rather than being systematically slaughtered after a few years instead?

Their entire life is basically drinking muddy water (if they can find it) and running for their lives from other animals, so yeah.

Well that's a rather myopic observation of animal life.
Animals do raise families, live in communities, have room to roam the earth, and may even socialize.
Also their diet is more varied rather than being force fed corn and soybean meal and a bunch of antibiotics in hopes of easing meat yield.

I did manage to read more recreationally last year because I finished grad school halfway through, but I have done really shitty this year. I have one book I've been working on since the beginning of the year.

I sometimes wonder how the fuck I ever had time to play all those video games and read all those books. Damn smart phones.

Same here. I'm still working on the same book since the start of 2018. Granted, it's a bit dry material but the subject is really fascinating!

I'm also guilty of going to play PUBG instead of sitting down and reading.

I'm reading sapiens right now as well.
I tend to read more nonfiction, so compared to other nonfiction, I'd say this books isn't dry at all. The author interject a lot of personality and candor in his writing.

The village was soooo much better

That game starts as a 10/10 game and then drops 2 points with each area after that
