The death penalty really doesn't do anything but fulfil a need for revenge. Studies have shown that in places where the death penalty was legal vs where it wasn't, there was no effect on deterrence. Btw America's prison system is all kinds of fucked, we have the largest incarceration rates AND ridiculously high reoffender rates. You act like you want to be tough on crime, but throwing people in cages is anything but. They just come back out criminals. Granted I think murderers still deserve life sentences. If schools don't want this scene to repeat, they need to get tougher on bullying. The thing is the little kid doesn't even realize the gravity of what they've done yet them and their family will have to pay big for it and that kind of makes me a little uncomfortable. Under felony murder rules, if a cop plows through a light killing a pedestrian on the way to the crime scene, you can be charged with the death.
