Maybe a little on the low side for me but fair Critically that's fair. But the score says one thing, the negative backlash from audiences is another thing entirely. And it's fucking ridiculous. That's why I try to make the comparison that if it were the exact same game by Nintendo, think of how much people would just be enjoying it. You can't boil the sum of the experience down to the numbers. It's just a bunch of fucking fun. If you've ever watched a Pirates of the Caribbean movie and wanted a game experience that Black Flag didn't deliver on then buddy I got good news for you. Yes, absolutely people should critique it, it's not perfect and it's worth pointing out. However I think at some point it goes beyond critiquing. They don't want to see it improve. Are you kidding? People get far too much joy in failure, however big or small. I'll always support creative projects like this, even if they fall very short of what was promised or anticipated. Seems silly to want something like this to fail, when there's so much greedy bullshit going on elsewhere. --- |

Or is it possible the reviews are inflated and people only give a shit about it because it's a Nintendo product that was released in a drought. --- |

The thing Nintendo doesn't have any idea how to do still in 2018? It wouldn't be the exact same game because they would neuter it at every turn. I can't possibly imagine the servers would be anywhere near as good (honestly, haven't experienced a single hickup, connection loss, nothing. But I'm just speaking for me here) But just actually playing the game without being able to communicate with people. And not just no ingame chat, no party chat either. As bare bones of an online experience as they could possibly make it. And no fun little touches either. No drinking alcohol or voting people into the brig, that wouldn't be family friendly. And yet people would STILL praise Nintendo for this shit. --- |

They could transport you to different worlds and make you experience things you never would have dreamed possible. But the more I look back on XIII the more I appreciate it.
