So I don't think I would miss regular sex that much. If we got divorced I would be sad and lonely because I'd miss my family. I enjoy spending time with them, and watching them grow up. The idea of me being some lonely, single 40 year old living in an apartment by myself, only I have a robot to have sex with me and do the cooking and cleaning... HELL NO, never would I prefer that to my current life. And the thought of abandoning them, and leaving my son without a dad, just to live like that, makes me feel sick to my stomach. I like the idea of the Venom suit making Peter Parker think he's cool, when really he's just a more obnoxious dork. And that's the kind of role Tobey Maguire is great at. ...but then they decide to have that scene where he's being just as much of a dork with Gwen Stacey, only this time the movie acts like he really is cool. That is genuinely terrible. The movie had some good ideas, but it also had some terrible ones, and in the end suffered from having too much crammed in. --- i am truley sorry for your lots |

| action52 04/03/18 4:12:57 AM #16 | They were always dumb movies, but at least they put effort into the jokes. You can tell that they are into the movies and trying to make them funny. Probably when they were writing the movies they bounced jokes around and cracked each other up, then used the ones they liked the most. But gradually he seemed to just get bored. I mean you can tell with Adam more than anybody. His first few movies, the guy went nuts clowning around and mugging for the camera. Movies from 2010 and after, he's just acting like he's bored and doesn't give a shit. Nobody really seems into it though. Pretty much everybody is phoning it in. They just want to get that free vacation and fat paycheck. Probably when they write these movies, they just shrug and throw in whatever lazy jokes they think of first. I doubt that even they care if they're funny. I'm not saying the old movies were good, but they were funny dumb humor. The new ones... I had a fairly liberal Catholic upbringing so I never felt like anything was "shoved down my throat." Just that as I get older I started to realize there was no real basis to think that Christianity was correct and all other religions were wrong. When I was in college I believed that maybe there was some sort of higher power that created us and is guiding us, and that all world religions are interpretations of that. But gradually I came to think that was probably just wishful thinking on humanity's part. So right now I consider myself an atheist because I believe no god is the most likely to be true. Like if I put a number on it, I would say I think it's about 80% that there is no god, 20% that there is some spiritual form of "god" that all the world religions are reaching for and partially understanding, less than 1% that one of the world's major religions is totally right, and less than .00000001% that fundamentalists are correct. Some people would say that makes me an agnostic because I'm not 100%, but I say that's silly. It is hubris to say you are 100% sure for anyone if you ask me. But if you decidedly think it more likely that god does not exist, you're an atheist. --- i am truley sorry for your lots |

People who get there on time aren't losing anything versus starting on time, and in fact get a little extra because they don't have to wait for everything to be passed out. Although you could make a case the other way that people who came early get an unfair advantage, especially if the grade curve is a big thing in that class. If the test also ends five minutes early, definitely unfair. --- i am truley sorry for your lots |

The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. Then a year or so later it was Shawshank Redemption and I was like "Wha-?" In 95 it got decent but not fantastic reviews. I remember seeing it and liking it okay. Then I never heard anybody talking about it. It certainly wasn't in any "best ever" lists that I remember seeing before the mid-2000s. Apparently though there was a generation of kids watching it over and over again on cable and just falling in love with the movie, who propelled it to the status that it has today. Don't get me wrong, I like the movie, but never got on board with the level of praise it got. --- i am truley sorry for your lots |
