higurashi's format confused me/kind of turned me off at first but GMUN (the person who recommended it to me) reassured me it would be explained and all tied together. that was good enough to help me thoroughly enjoy the first season (and kai even more.) I've rewatched the anime, read the manga, and played the VN. I don't count the series as one of my all time favorite's but it's one I've loved every time I experience it again.

I enjoyed love lab but don't have too many memories/thoughts on it. I didn't care about it being yuri or not but it was funny.

I really loved the manga for Orange but I agree the plot twist makes no sense and almost ruins the series. At the same time, I was strangely able to just ignore it because it's not that important.

Spirited Away is one of the few Ghibli movies I care about, I've always found most of their work really dull albeit pretty to look at.

Holy moly Gurazeni is awful. Let's break down the dumb stuff here.

- MC is dull as hell. His only motivation is how much money he makes, and all he talks about is his salary and the salary of other players
- Some guy gets sent down to the minors because of a single bad at-bat, so I don't really know how a team functions under that mindset. Like, if you drop every player after one bad at-bat, you're not going to have a good roster. Similarly, if pitchers get sent down from one bad inning, that means you're going to have a really shitty pitching staff. This makes no sense.
- The CG is a joke. Every complex movement is done with CG while the rest is traditional animation. It's stiff and grating.
- Apparently commentators need to have prediction skills in order to be successful, rather than simply being enjoyable to listen to. Maybe this is a thing in Japan? Most MLB commentators just shoot the shit and provide fun statistics, then yell when exciting stuff happens. They make a pretty big deal about the commentator not knowing who the starter will be for the next game.
- Speaking of, apparently there's no starting rotation lmao
- The MC is brought in to start for basically no explained reason (He's a reliever), goes into the fifth inning allowing 4 earned runs on only 49 pitches. Yeah, that's possible, but I'm pretty skeptical about how much the creator actually watches baseball.
- In this game, you see him throw one pitch and the rest of the game is given to you through a monologue
- "There's money buried under the pitch" just in case you didn't realize. We'll see that line at least 40 times though
- Literally right after typing that, the MC quotes it and says, "That's a phrase you hear a lot!"
- The MC is ugly

Well shit, guess I'll have to stick to 3D baseball to get my fix.

Great writeup, I didn't actually experience Naruto until I was 18 but it was the first ever manga series I read. I was just getting into anime and I was interested in Naruto but I opted for the manga because of the length. Anyway, I have a lot of nostalgia for it, especially pre timeskip. Like ange, I was never into anything post timeskip as I was pre but I didn't think it actually got bad until after the Pain arc.

I still think I'll probably watch through the anime at some point if I ever hit the point of running out of anime I'm interested in.

Think I'm going to start doing the Mac thing where I make my favorites trend toward stuff I've watched recently. Doing the anime ranking has made me realize how inaccurate my favorites are.

I don't really care about my MAL favorites anymore so I'm not going to change mine but yeah. I have so much nostalgia for all my favorite anime that I'm not sure if another one will really ever hit that top level for me. I acknowledge that my favorite anime aren't really actually better than the great anime that have come since but nothing will ever have that magical feel to it again.

watched kizumonogatari 2 and 3. pretty cool stuff overall. first time where I read the book first made everything easier to follow. feel like the pacing was maybe too slow? probably would have been better if it weren't a movie trilogy but I dunno.

also watched steins;gate 0 OVA thing. I feel like episode 1 of the TV series will basically be this but more... not sure if it was worth it but whatever.
