I remember having the tape for it when I was a wee lad. I watched it and the commentary scenes on how they filmed the stunts. It wasn't till I was older that I realized just ****ing crazy Tom Cruise is. No sane man would do the stunts he doesn't bat an eye at and the director had to have been pissing his pants at the thought of getting a big time action star killed.

Ghost Protocol is the DEFINITIVE action movie. Every action scene had a purpose and there were no superfluous moments.

OK honestly the only thing I remember about that movie is it seemed like everyone had a fucking mask, so there were like 5 scenes where someone pulled a fucking mask off and by the third time you're like "this is stupid"

Also the ridiculously over the top martial arts and stunts. Such a fuck shit ass fest of a movie.

It was extremely over the top, but intentionally so. I loved that about it. Not something meant to be taken seriously, but just enjoyed.

While I concede its the worst(or second worst behind 3 for me) in the franchise, that's only because the franchise is so impossibly good. The movie is cheesy, over the top fun, and like all the others is taking on a specific kind of action genre, and succeeds fantastically.

I keep having really powerful runs for a while but I have yet to actually win. Any tips?

Just practice and learning cards to look out for. I got pretty lucky. I got the three cost power that makes the first card played each turn play twice, then I got the gambling chip so I had it almost every first turn. It was probably the luckiest I've ever been with some picks, but I could've won regardless. I beat the awakened one despite spamming powers(I played six on the first turn and barely took any damage).

Just figure out what you're aiming for after the first few cards, then build for that specifically. Most of the time, skipping taking a card is better just to streamline your deck.

I mean just tips for Defect specifically. Ive gotten to Ascension 12 with Silent and 14 with Ironclad so far but for Defect I dont know where to begin other than always take Seek cause its broken.

Ah lol. Focusing frost has worked well for me, especially with some plasma thrown in. Especially if you can get the doubling effect I had, then get blizzard. Seems to be the most consistent. Once you get some unlocks you can do some. Nasty builds ignoring the orbs entirely

bold statement. i'm turned off by the slow paced, kinda boring looking combat, but haven't extensively watched gameplay. was that a factor at all for you?

edit: haven't played the game yet, to be clear

The combat starts a bit dull but by the end its far better, kind of like a mix of the best of God of War and DMC. Some actually challenging bosses too.

The story is slow but insanely good, and the characters are great. This game has some feels.

How is under the dome? I bought it months ago but haven't read it yet

A lot of fun, and satisfying throughout until the ending, but don't let that deter you from enjoying an amazing journey.

I disagree. I enjoyed the ending. He was obviously foreshadowing it the whole book. It didn't feel like he ran out of space in his brain and came up with the first thing he thought up.

That's just me, though.

What makes you think it was foreshadowed? Been awhile since I've read it but I remember it being really out of the blue.

for the aliens, it was kinda outta the blue, although slightly alluded to.

It's more the shame aspect, and begging aspect that is more prevalent. You have Barbie always thinking back to the time he was ashamed in Iraq. You have Sanders and the other council woman, Andrea, who are ashamed of their life, and their drug problem respectively. You constantly have people begging to get out of the situation they're in (Angie at the beginning when she's killed by Junior, the girl who's raped and has the kid with Phil Bushy, etc etc etc).

Throughout the novel, it seems like a massive theme, to be ashamed and to beg that the ending made sense. Once again, it did to me atleast. I've also read the damn book like 5 times, so it was easier to pick up on during the second and third readings.

Interesting. Maybe I'll check it out again! But that's a ways off, Duma Key and the stand are my next revisits.

What are your thoughts on the Dark Tower? I'm into fantasy, but I never gave it much thought because for some reason I had a kneejerk reaction against Stephen King. But I've heard a fair amount of praise for it lately. Would you recommend?

Those were my first books I read by King. I enjoyed them immensely and it is not at all what you think it is.

The first book is slow, but it really kicks off in the second when he goes through the door.

This exactly. Practically required reading if you like literature.
