The most interesting part is how much Nintendo seems to value FE.

This can'g be surprising. When Square has their first conference, they showed absolutely nothing new and was the last conference of them all.

Oh and Snake isn't even the second best character. Other than Meta Knight being broken, at least Ice Cimbers, Olimar and Diddy Kong are clearly a step better and I think there are more. It's just that when Brawl came out, they were quite unexplored compared to Snake who everyone wanted to play. IIRC it took a few years for people to realize Ice Climbers and Olimar were any good in particular as they effectively quite differently from anyone else. Ice Climbers has been speculated to be more broken than Meta Knight before but pretty much no one can play them that well and they're rarely ever used.

Late to the topic, but I come here so little I didn't see it before.

I absolutely love SSE as well, even if The Great Maze isn't all that great. It's a shame if anyone spoiled it for themselves, I was excited every cutscene. It's not perfect no, I do wish more series had regular enemies in there and not only Mario. Bosses from a few more different series would have been cool as well and I always hated how Jiggs was added too late to have a real part.

Speaking of boss battles, those were generally fun and something Brawl has over Melee. It's true that Event matches and Break the Targets took a huge step back while Classic and All-Star took a small one, but I had just as much fun with Brawl when that came out, even coming off of perhaps the greatest prerelease hype ever (seriously can they bring the dojo back for the new title?).

Playing through SSE is probably a better memory than anything in any Smash game. I played it alone the first time. It's actually not that great a multiplayer since playing as player 2 sucks, but I didn't even know that at the time. I think I've had more multiplayer fun with Smash title coming, though after Smash 4 there's a bigger chance of me going back to Melee, because Brawl is more similar to Smash 4.

I probably think Smash 4 > Brawl > Melee > 64 overall. If I were to rank based only on singleplayer, it'd probably be different. Melee fans tend to lack any kind of understanding of how anyone could think it's not far superior. Imo it offers some different things, but I don't think it is.

Was fun reading someone playing this for the first time, that sure has been a while.

And hey, a game I played!

It's a shame you never got to the bonus levels in Odyssey. I think with Mario games today they kinda have to make it easy to get through the mandatory stuff so kids can easily jump into without turning back to their parents' smartphones. They do however also make fantastic bonus content for the less casual fans. Added to that, while it's easy to play through it, the atmosphere of each level prevents the difficulty, or lack there of, from being a problem. Each transformation is fantastic and most levels are very fun to explore.

I think my one problem with the game is how it kinda penalties you for exploring a level instantly. A lot of power moons become accessible out of nowhere when they could have just as well been available right away. This isn't even blaming the ones coming from glowing rocks because that's at least an explanation ans the map shows those anyway, but quite often you'll have timer challenges or whatever appearing out of nowhere.

Yeah, this is a darn shame. I'm not affected though. Toy stores are still a big thing here. Toys R Us stores here are also owned a Scandinavian company, so they're unaffected by this. (Which is nice, got a nice part time job there).

Super Mario 64 is weird to me, because on one hand I've played that game a lot more than most games growing up. I really did love it and I have very fond memories of it, but I have not been able to go back to it and enjoy it on the same level as I can with the other 3D Marios. Unlike what many people seem to think, I don't think it aged too well.

It just looks more epic with the silhouettes. Especially with the Inkling Girl being overblown by it all and be like "**** what's this". That wouldn't have been as strong if they weren't silhouettes.

I love discussing new Smash stuff. No game series can hype me to the same extend.

2018 is not fat away at all though and they can ride Smash hype for long if they want, which I would assume they would want. This is what mostly stops me from thinking it's much of a new game.

I think the biggest case against a new game is that it says 2018. Even if they somehow worked on this for a long time, Smash generstes hype like literally nothing else and no way they'd only reveal a new Smash the same year it came out.

Paper Mario TTYD is probably my favorite Mario game overall, though it's hard to compare to the platformers.

World or Galaxy 2 for core series, though I'm still not sure where Odyssey goes.

Zootopia is a good movie, but it's not as great as this topic makes it seem, jeez.

Agree that Frozen is a victim of its own popularity. I think it's fantastic, but it's easy to have that picture of it ruined from the overexposure.

It really takes something for someone to be on my ignore list, and the I think two times someone managed that, I removed them from it again soon after, as the topics they were too much in purged. I'm too curious to have anyone on ignore and 99% of the time it's super easy to just ignore said posts, which is really what people who complain about quoting users they have on ignore should learn, since it's really not fair to ask of others to stop using the quote feature.

And as for Ulti, he has never bothered me, so I have never even considered it. Perhaps if I was brave enough to engage in political stuff here I'd understand why, but I keep out of that. He's good in contest stuff and his occasional playthrough topics, which is where I see him.
