Are you just being dramatic because I can't imagine paying the exorbitant price for a cinema ticket and just storming out 30 minutes in because I'm not enjoying it so far.

They just went about it differently. I think it fit the game perfectly, although it would be the first zelda game where memorable songs aren't a part of the fabric of the game.

Oh are we talking emotional, poorly thought-out narratives in this topic? I've got one for you.

"Liberals these days will call anything rape. Touch a woman on the knee and she'll report you for rape. What happened to the good old days when you'd just get a slap on the wrist and not a court order?"
"Rape reports are up 20%. Must be the immigrants, can't think of any other reason why."

It's odd that you're trying to play in tabletop mode while charging, but I guess it's kinda weird that you can't.

It's a common complaint from what I've heard. For example say you went to a friend's house and you didn't bring your dock, and you wanted to play 2 player, how do you do it without someone hogging the screen? Someone will have to hold it if you want to charge. Or say you have a long train journey from london to edinburgh and you want to play the entire way, are you going to hold the screen the entire time just so you can keep it charged? I can think of a few situations where it would be good to be able to charge and not hold the screen while playing.

Pros:
- designed with couch co-op in mind. The best way to play videogames IMO. Other consoles and PC gaming seems to be moving more towards online gaming but I'm glad nintendo gets the desire to play with your friends sitting next to you. It's got people I know who aren't "gamers" playing proper games, and I really like that.
- being able to play fully fledged games anywhere instead of shitty half baked mobile games is pretty amazing
- battery life is impressive
- controllers are easy
- charges quickly when not being used
- joycons are a feat of clever UX engineering
- Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey are just something else
- the docking process is delightful. Nothing to select or change, you just put the switch on the dock and it transfers instantly. That's very nice.
- generally the experience of pulling it out and playing is fun and accessible and doesn't ever feel like an ordeal.

Cons:
- Kind of shitty that you can't charge and play with it resting on a desk at the same time. I'm guessing it was a hardware space issue, or maybe they didn't think people would play and charge at the same time? Either way it's a bit annoying.
- Everyone is complaining about the stand being flimsy but I'm more annoyed by how limiting it is from an angle perspective. Tried to use it on the train and the screen was pointing towards my sternum. I ended up just going handheld. Between this issue and the one above I don't actually use the stand option at all.
- No bluetooth headphones? I don't even use bluetooth headphones but this seems like a bit of an oversight. Or maybe just a hardware issue.
- their online shit is downright terrible in every way. Can't chat to friends, no basic app support like youtube or netflix (bearing in mind this was standard in the previous gen for xbox and playstation). You design this affordable high powered tablet device with a pretty solid screen with touch screen capability, and I can't watch videos on it? Come the fuck on.

The US actually has less than the average amount of violent crime per capita compared to others, at least in the year 2000. However, the odds that the violent crime will involve a gun is MUCH higher (as of 2012).

I wonder what could be making criminals more hesitant to commit a violent crime in the US when compared to countries that banned guns

He said less than average, I wouldn't be too proud or too ready to draw big conclusions about that one. It means you're better than Brazil but not better than Austria.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the "total" column is not total deaths but total rate of deaths per 100,000 capita. And yeah, that's f***ing terrible USA. For whatever reason, you're punching on an equal level with some of the biggest s***hole countries in the world.

Like France, Norway, and Finland?

Because all of them have worse rates on mass shootings.

Oh, are we just talking about mass shootings now? I thought the argument was that mass shooting are irrelevant because you shouldn't legislate across the board based on just a couple deaths per year or something.

When people say "less gun deaths" do they take into account disproportionate populations, or are they just going off of raw numbers?

Here's a neat table to play with, based on per-capita:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate

This chart is really weird. Why is the final figure calculated on a per gun basis, when the other stats are calculated on a per capita basis? I'd be more interested to see the "gun deaths per capita" statistic, which seems more helpful.

Edit: Nevermind, I see the "total" column is not total deaths but total rate of deaths per 100,000 capita. And yeah, that's fucking terrible USA. For whatever reason, you're punching on an equal level with some of the biggest shithole countries in the world.

As best I can make out, it basically comes down to this: Americans love guns. Tthey really, really love guns. The rest of the developed world doesn't really care about guns.

That's all there is to it. All the arguments that make sense to me boil down in the end to "I like guns, and I don't want you to take my guns away". And that's probably a fine argument. Probably.

Im pro digital for everdrives in retro consoles and being able to have a lot of games in one place that are easily accessible on newer ones but Im also very worried that my digital games wont last decades.

Do you really believe this is the case?

Because I would argue that digital has made gaming way more accessible and allowed older games to last even longer than they could before. I can go online and find perfect copies of any 1990 game free on the internet, many of them legally, the rest without any hassle at all - something I couldn't guarantee even if I managed to get my hands on a rare physical copy.

I think for the most part the fear of digital is a weird resistance to change some people have, but there are some legitimate concerns with it. I dislike how much power it gives producers to control the market, like the way apple phones have gone - you buy this $1000 piece of hardware but it's never actually yours, and they lockdown the software so severely that it's basically a paperweight unless you sign over all right to the digital content on it.

So that's a legitimate concern. Being annoyed that you don't get to put a cartridge into your games console is a pretty silly concern. The arguments over convenience are the most stupid, because the entire point of switching to digital is it's more convenient for everyone.

The price thing is a legitimate concern. It's crazy now how people are happy to pay fullprice for 10 year old games that get released on digital marketplaces.
