I'm glad that the multiplayer on the PC version of the first game is pretty glitched. Makes the game so much better when it's just a solo thing. Is the cheesing worse in 2 and 3?

Are you reading Matt Fraction's 2012 Hawkeye series? That's supposed to be one of the best things that Marvel has ever done. Be warned though that Marvel has been trash for the most part since around 2015.

But yeah, there's some pretty good stuff compiled as trades (single book).

Skyward Sword shocked me in how bad it was. There was an interview with Eiji Aonuma (I think) prior to the game's release in which he discussed how disappointed he was that Twilight Princess ended up with such an empty world map. So it blew my mind that with SS they decided it was a good idea to make it an ultra linear, mediocre Metroidvania game. We all know that the release of a 3D Zelda game is so rare that it's basically an event. SS felt like a complete waste of that event.

Misconception bro. Any comic book in book format, is a trade, short for trade paperback.

Graphic novels are comics that were meant to be released in single book format from the very beginning. Using your Chris Claremont X-Men reference as an example, X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills is a graphic novel, while Dark Phoenix is a compiled comic book arc.

True graphic novels are pretty rare nowadays thanks to Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns. Those two popularized the practice of compiling limited series and story arcs into book format. Before that, limited series were pretty much done after their initial printings. Crisis on Infinite Earths was probably the first super popular one, so the fact that it was released in the same shortly before Watchmen and DKR helped to strengthen the format and somewhat kill true graphic novels.

Anyways, as for recommendations:

Before Watchmen: Minutemen - This one blew me away. I was shocked at how on par it was with the original. A prequel featuring the first superhero team featured in the original book.

Daytripper - Another book that completely surprised me because of how damn good it was. Tells a guy's life story by showing how he could have died at key points in his life.

Nocturnals: Black Planet - A crime/horror/fantasy/sci-fi story featuring a team of monster misfits battling supernatural forces. Amazing art.

Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? - Pretty much any compilation of Alan Moore's scattered stories will have this, but there's an ultra cheap version that just has this and Moore's other two Superman stories which are also good.

Silver Surfer: The Rebirth of Thanos - The setup to Infinity Gauntlet, the trade has this storyline and the equally good Thanos Quest.

Hawkworld - A Hawkman origin story taking place on his home planet involving him as a cop dealing with his planet's caste system.

Batwoman: Elegy - Features the modern revamped Batwoman from when Detective Comics temporarily became about her.
