Opting out, involves lot of paperwork(and usually rejected by excuses "bad form" etc,resubmit your documents ), time and effort. So yes you can opt out if you are going great lengths to do so but really hard to do so.

History has shown this is not necessarily the case, and common sense tells us this will not be the case for a unique business in an isolated area where there is no competition.

Self defense applies regardless of the age of the assailant. Back in high school this kid that hated me came over to where me and some friends were sitting. He didn't say a word, just walked up to me and booted me in the head, knocking me back. Keep in mind, I was 18 and he was barely 14 and a good bit smaller than me. He got a couple decent kicks in before I got up, pushed him back a couple times, then had to grab him by the neck and hold him away from me.

That last part, me with my hands around his neck, was the first a teacher saw. She ran over screaming about "assaulting a minor," and I was going to be in serious trouble with the law, and of course this kid starts "crying" and spouting off about how i was choking him for no reason and he couldn't breathe and to get the cops there right away so he could send me to jail.

Any time I or any of the other students tried to correct the record, we were told "I know what I saw." This shit had me worried, but she eventually realized that maybe she should consider the witness accounts.

Long story short, I was not reprimanded in any way, and the dumbass kid ultimately went to juvie for a rash of similar incidents with people he tried to attack over the following weeks.

I've sold a handful of things over the years. Most recently a near-mint copy of FFII US (SNES) for about $200. I also got about $150 for a beat-to-shit copy of EarthBound back in December. I've been tempted a couple times to list my other EB cart with the box, player's guide, and scratch & sniff stickers intact (still faintly smelly too!). It's worth a small fortune, but it has some sentimental value and I don't think I could forgive myself.

Sounds like you're in stage 1 sleep and your dreams are mingling with the part of your mind that's still conscious. The real oddity here is your lack of paralysis. Do you by chance have a history of sleepwalking?

I sometimes have sleep paralysis or night terrors. Usually once or twice a year, either after a long bout of sleep deprivation or if I'm sleeping alone in an unfamiliar place. It's actually been a while now, I think the last episode was 3 or 4 years ago, but I also haven't been in a typical trigger situation in that time, either. I rarely see anything (the only time I recall seeing a figure was like 20 years ago, and that was a woman in a white nightgown with a bright light behind her. She looked angelic but was still terrifying), but I always feel like there's someone or something watching me. I can't move. I know it's all in my head but the more I try and fail to move the more i panic. Then I try to scream, just to wake myself up, but I can hear myself and all I can manage is a whimper. These episodes only last a few minutes, but they can be horrifying. It was at its worst when I was a teenager. Shit happened almost every night for a while. I'm so glad that's behind me (for the most part).
