I'm willing to cut the two gamers that initially got into the argument a bit of slack and assume they didn't intend at all to get someone killed. Door kicked in, dog killed, maybe some broken bones from a violent take down by a cop....still vile shit, but not straight up murder.

The call to the police could've been just about anything. Police even send in SWAT now just to serve drug search warrants.
It was Tyler, experienced swatter and complete sociopath that he is, that painted such an elaborate tale of deranged violence to the police, which drastically increased the chances of itchy trigger fingers.

But the cop still is supposed to assess the damn situation. The guy peacefully opened the door. Any reasonable person might stop for a sec and think something's off. Or perhaps, I dunno...consider the guy opening the door might be one of the "crazed gunman's" hostages/captives, and hold his fire.

Could have been about anything? The tip was LITERALLY about a hostage situation, FROM the perspective of the hostage-taker who was threatening to kill the hostages. It's not like cops just randomly show up places without any guidance or input, literally any time a cop responds to a call they have information.

As for "peacefully opening the door," keep in mind that the Swatter was deliberately acting unhinged so just answering the door is perfectly in keeping with that. It's not like this was a bank robber or other call where the hostage-taker intended to use the hostages for leverage.

Neither gamer deserves even the slightest bit of slack. One took out a contract on somebody's life and the other (the more innocent of the two) gave an address *knowing* that the other person may have intended harm.

And all of this doesn't matter.

Swatting isn't a new concept and it isn't as though police have never received the wrong address.

For them to open fire before verifying the situation is wrong. They receive constant training, I know my dad had to go every year for it even when he wasn't working the streets anymore. They had meetings there where they discussed updates and new things. Like the militant "sovereign citizens" being a rising threat to law enforcement and how to potentially identify them by bumper stickers and shit if you pulled them over.

There are so many videos of police having reasonable responses to swatting calls, and you want to defend a situation where police did not respond properly and gunned down an unarmed man without justification.

You're clueless. RE has been in best of gaming lists since it released in 96. If you type in best games of all time lists on google, you'll see RE1, RE2 and RE4 in MANY of them. I even just did it to check and those three kept showing up. You may want to actually do some research before speaking on things lmao.

Ok so I checked google went through all the links on the first page. Most lists were "top 50" and didn't even include a title from the RE series. One had RE4 at 36. It was at 27 gc and 36 ps2 on metacritic.

I'm not trying to say they are bad games. RE is one of the most well known and highly regarded series in gaming. I was just making a response to the guy who thought it was reasonable for someone to argue the remake of 2 would be the best game for the next 10 years.

Dont' get me wrong, cyberpunk looks amazing, but I think Smash Bros is where it's at this year.

I know people love it, but to me it's just a fighting game. I don't get the excessive hype it gets.

But while I can understand the argument I would prefer lower barriers to entry, shit and all. The good games always seems to float up and there are a number of great channels on youtube that sift through the shit to do videos on the promising games.

People forget that this exact scenario happened with the atari. Which actually led to a videogame crash. But that was also when videogames were new and people were unsure about them. Now they are part of a way of life, just like any movie or novel. Heck the industry is growing so big that it is actually gonna be overtaking movies. So having a bunch of garbage will do nothing but make people never buy their games again. Nowadays if you screw up a game, your gonna get a ridiculous amount of bad publicity and boycotts. Like I will never buy another game from Gun Media, there handling of Friday the 13th is terrible.

ET wasn't just a random one dollar game from a no name developer on steam. It was a advertised for a super popular movie that they made way too many copies for and developed by atari. Also wasn't really game reviews, not the way we have now to instantly pull things up on our phones.

The kind of trash games I'm talking about aren't making it onto consoles. The industry is more mature now and technology allows us to pull up reviews on our phone at anytime for anything we want.

Never understood the smash obsession.

Bethesda tends to not announce a game until it's close to being finished, so I can see why people would be hyped.

Doesn't mean it's still not cringey af especially since their last major release between FO and TES was hot garbage compared to what they've made before, it just makes it worse.

Also TES6 is not coming out for at least two years+. They had nothing to show and threw together a 20 second trailer cause they knew they had nothing to show

If MS's show wasn't a showcase of other people's work that I can get on other platforms, it'd have been impressive. However, it was, so it wasn't. Even if they show cool third party stuff, like the Vesperia remake which I've been wanting forever, i'm not counting it for them when I can just get it on steam or my ps4.

Then I don't know what standard we should hold.

I literally just judge these conferences on what they choose to show me, I don't judge it on "does this make me want to buy a console".
