WrkHrdPlayHrdr

I'm registered Republican but lean heavy to the left on certain things.

GOP and DNC.

What do you like? The put America first dynamic. I totally get that it's a world economy and all of that jazz but we are not running a country that can sustain this forever. We can't afford to lose money on trade. We can't afford to keep sending countries billions of dollars just to help them out. We are flat out broke. Trump didn't help with his budget. All the talk about running it like a company doesn't seem to mean anything.

What do you dislike? Both parties do this but us versus them. Stop trying to get us against each other. We all work in this country. We all drive on the same roads. We all need food, shelter, healthcare, etc. Also, the Republicans need to realize that people are frustrated with the growing divide of the have and the have-nots. Yes, if you create a business that employs tons of people and you run it well you should be rich. You did a good job. What you don't need is offshore bank accounts holding billions of dollars. It's hard to pinpoint an exact place but people making hundreds of millions of dollars a year is a LOT of money that they aren't spending most of. That needs back in economy.

What do you feel their focus should be on? I hate to quote it because it's Trump and I don't like him but, MAGA.

Random thoughts? Facebook and other social media as well as the 24 hour news cycle is destroying the country. Isaac Asimov said "The saddest aspect of of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom." It's pretty true. We have all these new advances in things like Facebook and our response went from "let's connect friends and family" to using it as a legitimate news source that is crowd sourced (right word?) by literally anyone and a lot of those people make shit up.

The other thing... right this moment what news place is saying "what about the homeless soldiers" or "these people don't have clean drinking water." They aren't. Things are only brought out when they help someone politically. Remember the government shut down? It was all "Soldiers won't get paid! Where will they live?" or "we have a million homeless vets right now!" and not since then has it been mentioned. They forgot about it. Peoples plights aren't talking points for the next round table discussion that week. Guess what, Flint still doesn't have clean water. Guess what, soldiers are still out there killing themselves when they get home. Don't fucking feign outrage for 2 days because it makes your cause look better.

As for age restrictions on games, that's the government setting those restrictions, not the businesses.

According to post 8, there might not actually be any laws backing the ESRB ratings / stopping stores from selling any game to anyone of any age. I'll check into it later though.

It's 100 percent the publishers/developers that set these. A 16 year old has every legal right to purchase an M rated game, however store policy may not allow them.

Same issue with the guns.
Dicks and the others aren't a government entity. They can say they will only sell guns to people over 93 years old. That's their right. They will, however, lose a lot of business.

It's not legal. They have to pay you for time worked. If she were to get fired after being docked pay for a day she worked she would have a good case.

What is being talked about is "at will" employment which is a lot (most?) states. They can fire you for any reason except for "protected" things like, you're gay, you're out on FMLA (this one can be tricky), you're black, you're Muslim, etc.

Edit: They could fire her for working late/getting OT but they can't not pay her.
