However, due to political scapegoating and pressure from a highly-influential nation that especially hates them, there was a global genocidal campaign enacted where, in the end, every member of that race was wiped out, except for the one person. That individual is left alive, because the world doesn't see them as a threat to their safety. Said individual of course is grief-stricken and very angry, but rather than attempt revenge, they decide to completely withdraw from the world and live out their own life in solitude. Later, a transdimensional entity appears on Earth and begins to wreak havoc, destroying cities and entire landspaces. The world's armies have thrown everything they had at it, including their most powerful nukes, but all have failed to even scratch it. However, it's later discovered that there is a single individual on the planet who has arcane powers, which would eliminate the beast with ease. That person is the survivor of the genocide. The survivor has also come to discover this fact on their own in the years since the massacre.
