Itll help, but what you need to consider is that your credit history and score is like a resume. Say you want a mortgage, there is a person who's sole job is to make sure you're legit. When they see your history, they will see a credit score of 700 or whatever, but what makes up that score? If they see a few car loans, a VISA, and a Mastercard with good payment history, they will like what they see more than a 700 score with just an Amazon card with good payment history. Most store cards are looked at as trash, but there are the exceptions, like Amazon and Cost Co. They're still not as good as a general credit card though. Paying interest is pretty much the same as renting. Your landlord is the bank in the case of a mortgage. You also get a fancy chart that shows you how much every month is going to principle and what goes to interest.
