Pausing it there while we waited for the people who can decide that to take their thumbs out of their asses and do so would create chaos in the process. All our systems, again, like it or not, are currently set to work with Obamacare. We can't just strip it away without making some adjustments.
I would prefer "Federal Nationalized Health Insurance" of my design.

But if we can't have that, revert the system to "Pre-Obama-care" is in my option the best solution.

Our country, like it or not, is currently used to and running under Obamacare. If we strip it back to how it was with no replacement, it's anarchy. Use some critical thinking and don't just listen to Trump.
Or we can roll back the rules to right before Obamacare was implemented and pause it at there until we can get Federalized Nationalized Health Insurance that would aggregate all Citizenry into one big Health Insurance pool.

Hold up, so your advocating for things like pedophilia, incest and beastiiality to be legal? You sick fuck...
Incest (If it's consensual, & following legal Age of Consent laws; sure why not).

Bestiality, as long as the owner is ok with it, sure why not?

Polygamy, sure why not. If you can get everybody to sign on the marriage certificate. Go for it!

Pedophilia is reserved for ages 10.x and under since that will still be illegal.

But lowering the Age of consent should be the goal to expand a Sex Positive European Life Style.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Consent

Japan has it their Age of consent at 13!

What I think needs to happen for the US is for the Age of Consent needs to be Federalized & lowered to 16 for anybody 16 and older like in many states & countries.

Close in age exceptions for ages 13-15 being with consensual partners that are up to twice their literal age down to the decimal level accuracy.

11-12 year olds close-in-age exemption should be for 13-16.x year olds only.

Stop trying to repress sex.

Be Sex Positive. Stop being a conservative prude when it comes to sex and be truly progressive about it.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way, broseph. Some things are in the state's jurisdiction, aren't they? The federal government can't just decide to mandate anything and everything for all 50 states, can it? (Not a lawyer)
Depends on how you write the legislation and allocation of power.

That's why the FAA can have Jurisdiction and power over all 50 states.

It depends on the wording.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

If you write it correctly, you can prevent any State / Territory from having their own legislative power by making it a Federal Agency Tasked to take care of it.

And once again, the states are going to prioritize their own interpretations since it pertains to just them. It's not like aviation where aircraft have to enter another state's airspace thereby requiring some centralized guideline.
Federal Law can force all States to send representatives into a big group to work on joint Federal Legislation that replaces any state level specific law and per-empts states from having their own.

So what are the negatives to this? Surely it's not all rainbows and sunshine. There's gotta be a catch. Does it scale? Are there data privacy concerns with the state being so closely tied to the infrastructure powering the internet there?
The only Negative is the current big ISP's would be VERY afraid and would rail against this across the US with political $$ to stiffle it.

They know of Amon, Idaho.

They're VERY AFRAID of it spreading.

That's why they're silent about it.

You know something is wrong when they go radio silent about it or have to lie / slander about it.

Not anymore than it currently is.

Anything the Federal Government can do, is already done at the Backbone / National ISP level.

They wouldn't waste their time at the local level, not worth their money when the spying is happening at the large Backbone core points of the Internet Infrastructure.

I'd be curious to know why Comcast or some other large ISP didn't fight hard against this being implemented in the city. Maybe if the city implements it for itself first, it's then trivial to expand it to residential areas. By which point any large ISP like Comcast is out of luck in trying to shut this down.
They literally line the local politicians with money to fight against Municipal Broadband.

Google it up, there are countless stories of local politicians being "Donated too" for their campaign re-election.

Then suddenly they write legislation that is literally handed to them by the ISPs to block Municipal internet.

All the Politicians do is rubber stamp it.

ISP's FEAR competition of any sort, as they should.

It's fine for the manufacturers to want to protect their products and whatnot. I'm more referring to the government coming after you if you're brewing medicine in your garage or if you're setting up autonomous x-ray pipelines that can be used on real people.

They'll want to make sure everything is "safe" and "licensed" and "approved" and I totally get that. We need some of that. But ultimately the way we're doing it now is not for safety, it's to make sure Uncle Sam gets a cut and it's to make sure the big players are the only ones who can produce medicines, etc. There are all kinds of federal and state licenses you need if you want to start your own small pharmaceutical company.
That's why we need 1x Nationalized Federal Standard instead of 50+ State & Federal Standards.

All the states should send in representatives for that subject matter and work together in a "FAA" like org on 1x set of standards to simplify everything.

This is really cool and would be a great way for cities/states to invest into their own communities. I'd love for this to get funded where I live now and everywhere. Great employment opportunity too.

Ideally the state would maintain the infrastructure without dipping its toes into user data, though.
The "Last Mile" portion would make the local government a little bit of profit and be self sustaining in terms of funding since "Fiber" is a 100+ year infrastructure.

You literally only need to change the hardware at the end points to upgrade instead of running new fiber.

Local Utility can be whatever.

Copper Phone Line, Coaxial Copper line, Fiber Optic, WiMax, etc.

Or all implemented at the same time to provide even more option.

Imagine having the choice of getting internet over
Fiber Optic
Latest DSL spec
Latest Coaxial Cable Internet spec
WiMax
Microwave Direct link
Laser Internet
Satellite (If you're a glutton for punishment or lack options)

And have all options be on at the same time and be "CHEAP!"

It's also governmental regulations around manufacturing of medication due to the chemicals that can be involved, and how we currently verify that medicine is "safe" for consumption.

Safe is in quotation marks because what we're really verifying is that "trusted" parties produced the medicine, where "trusted" means an entrenched player.
Don't forget "Independent" testing & validation against the human body along with long term effects trials to validate that there are no "Long Term effects".

Those are important.

No matter how quick the development phase, testing & validation is critical.

I mean obviously, but that's much easier said than done. Maybe the best solution is to limit the scope of the government, and its funding, so that we don't even need to have this conversation. Ultimately the powers that be will seek to entrench themselves so they can maintain their power/funding, so I'm not convinced we can elect the people we need consistently each election.
That's why it needs to be separated from Political appointee meddling.

Kind of like the FAA, but without so much power from any Congressional Appointee.

The Appointee would only be for guidance, day to day operation and long term operation are handled in house by elected experts.

And my ear drops from my chronic hearing issue skyrocketed in costs too. Around the time Obamacare went into effect.

Here's the kicker though, bro - I already know all of the ingredients in the medicine but I'd probably be arrested or heavily fined if I tried to manufacture the medicine on my own. Even though it'd be relatively safe to do so.

You can basically get close enough using vinegar and water, but once you start dealing with a few more chemicals you need to go through the regulatory hoops.

Which sucks, because otherwise someone could mass produce and sell this shit for a fraction of the cost.
That's Medicine Patents & licensing issues.

Here's a good example of the problem.

Say I want to buy some older X-ray machines so I can tinker with them and set up an automated X-ray pipeline where someone can just stand, get x-rayed at the targeted body part of their choosing, and then have the computer automatically interpret the results.

Say I want to be able to disassemble and reassemble the X-ray machine so that I know how it works, how I can build a better model of it, etc.

The regulatory hurdles that I'd need to jump through simply to acquire the machine and start tinkering with it, let alone test it on a consenting adult, would be catastrophic. The entire idea is a non-starter despite the sheer amount of potential there is in allowing people to tinker this way with things.

Regulating healthcare as a utility would stunt innovation even worse.
That seems to be more specific to X-ray Machine regulations / ownership / company machine license laws.

Yeah, that needs to be reduced or simplified.

Then we need to hire better talent in the Government.

Agreed 100%. So we should do it. Or enable new entrants into the market place so that we can introduce competition into the market.

Make it easier for individuals to bootstrap new businesses. Low interest loans, grants, access to free data, etc.
That's why the Amon Idaho model makes sense if copied and implemented across the US.

But the problem is that we've seen massive industries get completely disrupted by new entrants into the market, so ultimately it's not the end-all be-all of how complex an industry is.
When was the last time their was a new National ISP? To my knowledge, it was over 2 decades ago.

If you want more disruption and simpler cleaner solutions, you need the government to get out of the way a bit. Example: Why the fuck do some pharmaceuticals have a stranglehold on what medicines can be produced and at what cost? It's because the government's red tape is blocking people from entering the space and producing alternatives at a faster rate and lower cost.
Don't forget Medicine Patents on Chemical formulas

Then you just run into the situation in Canada / UK / etc where you have long wait times, reduced quality of care, and you need to spend extra on private insurance anyway since the bare minimum is good if you're a teenager who catches syphilis or gonorrhea in college but not at all adequate if you develop real health issues.
Yet so many Canadian / UK / other citizens of Nationalized Health Care "LOVE IT" according to their polls with only minor malcontents disliking it.

The ONLY sustainable solution is if the government gets together funding so that private entities can innovate the shit out of healthcare in the way that SpaceX is innovating the shit out of space travel. We need automation in healthcare. From diagnoses to treatment to medication research and medication production. End to end automation and digitization and miniaturization of technology.
That would be great if you could get a Health Insurance company to care about results of quality of treatment over profit. If you can find a Health Insurer that actually cares about you and not your $$$, they'll do what's best for the people.

Nationalizing healthcare as a utility will send it the way of the other utilities and we'll probably never see the future of healthcare that I'd like to see.
Most of the 1st world Nations have some form of Nationalized Health Care. I want a US specific Nationalized Health Insurance with privatized practices / services.

If your form of "Liberty" stops somebody else from exercising their natural human rights, then it becomes "Oppression" for them.

That's why we need to stop with this Ban ___ & Censor ___ non-sense.

Truth, Honesty, Accuracy, Unbiased should be a legal requirement for everybody.

Don't nationalize shit. Just make it easier for people to compete with the entrenched players by making it easier and more affordable for people to start and run businesses.
That would require politicians to not be able to receive funding from Corporations / Organizations.

And only allow them to take $ from constituents.

Trying to change the legal definition of a Corporation being equal to a person is soo stupidly hard that everybody would complain.

Having gubmint run everything would cause everything to be more expensive and lower quality. Private enterprise produces better products/services at lower costs.
Only if the Government run was run by morons who don't deserve to be there.

And Private Enterprise only works when there aren't Poly-gopolies / Monopolies.

When there are only 3 big ISP's and no real choice, stagnation happens.

That's when Government / Anti-Trust should come in and break things up like they did with AT&T back in the day.

It is the government mingling that makes healthcare (and just about anything) complex
And money from Big Corporations / Rich folks that writes those laws / bills.

In any case, the insurance company needs to turn a profit if it will continue existing and insuring anyone. That's why you have to spend some of your own money on healthcare before the plan covers a lot more stuff.
Nationalized Health Insurance that is "Non Profit" in construction, but is a required service to replace the optional Private Health Insurance.

This way the newly formed US NHI can leverage all 350+ million Insurers against corrupt Medical Practitioners / Profiteers and set fair cost structures.

Counter-offer: It should be legal for women to go topless in public.
I would prefer that as well, but some counties are too conservative and must "Ban the nipple"

Remember the Janet Jackson Super Bowl Nipple reveal by that ex-Back Street Boy?

Then they had to "Censor it" on TV!

Janet Jackson has Beautiful Nipples that the world should see, appreciate, & lust after.

I love the topless issue for me. I can get implants and be arrested up in the north for topless exposure, but could experience the same in the south but still be tried as a guy.

It's like.... lol.
That's why we need "Public Topless-ness / Nipple Exposure Equality" laws.

Where if a male can bear their nipples, then the female can as well in public.

If females cannot by law bear their nipple, males cannot either.

Men must wear pasties just like women if they go topless.

Wouldn't that be equal and fair?

This is why basic services like Internet ISPs for your premises, Smart Phone / Phone Access, Health Insurance should all be regulated and treated more like a utility.

Big Corporations are literally screwing the public over by making overly cumbersome rules and forcing a regional monopoly so they don't have to compete.

Imagine a US where on a National scale that we implement a Amon Idaho style Internet system.
https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2016/06/what-if-switching-fiber-isps-was-as-easy-as-clicking-a-mouse/

Where the last mile is locally owned by the county and all ISPs serving that region must go through and compete for customers.

Where customers can literally through a click of a button, drop the ISP they don't like, get a refund on their Credit Card, and swap an ISP and be back up in literally < 5 minutes.

The same system can apply for Smart Phone / Phone access where we nationalize all the Wireless Phone Bandwidths and have the Phone Companies all route to every tower and compete for our $

The Infratructure is nationalized, but the connections between the towers are privatized.

Same with Garbage Collection at your premises, where you get choices amongst all Garbage collection services that are validated to be legit & eco friendly (within reason).

We need Topless-ness equality.

If a man can go topless, a women should be able to.

If a male nipple can be shown, a female nipple should be able to be shown.

If the female nipple must be covered up, so must the males.

Equal standards, Zero Hypocrisy.

That's all we demand.

My wife and I also discussed this >_>.

I don't think I'd want to tell the friend while she's on her trip, since that's a lot of stress. So then what do you do... get the body cremated ?
Have the Animal Coroner hold the body until she comes back.

Then she can decide.

Lol I don't mind taking them out for walks and stuff but I don't want her dog to kick the bucket while I'm watching her.
That's not on you.

The dog already had pre-existing conditions.

Just follow the directions for the medicine.
