Gakkou Gurashi is waaaay too melodramatic for TV.

Well speaking of melodrama, the Mexican actors/actresses really know how to sell melodrama. To some degree, so do the CW melodramas. Japanese live action melodrama, I've never ever felt any of the actors/actresses did a good job of selling it. Koreans also do a lot of melodrama and while I think they can get pretty cringey, their actresses tend to be far more experienced and far more competitive so at least they can act well enough that the melodrama doesn't get enough in the way. Japanese... as far as I can tell cannot act very well. Their peak is not very high, and they're not really well known for their non-anime films for a reason

It's a pretty wild coincidence but my sister said basically this exact thing to me yesterday when we talked about various Asian dramas.
