I've flown both to Tokyo. Both good airlines. I prefer ANA, but the SQ price is nice. Sometimes ANA does not have wi-fi on the plane though. It's worth springing the $50-$75 for a daypass to the lounge if you can afford it.

Nice mix of Western & Japanese amenities.

but Singapore Airlines is constantly getting great ratings and reviews. i flew with them when i went to korea the first time and i loved it. i flew korean air and i didn't like it so much so flagship may not mean best...

nice! i just got their gold card in the mail yesterday. working on minimum spend for that 50k points so i can book my japan trip

ive been tempted time and time again to get that card, but i already have the sapphire reserve by chase, and 3 other amex cards so i mean, theres really no point. i dont take uber, though i know i can use it for uber eats. and i rarely book flights with cash so the 5x is useless to me. so id really only use the 200 dollar airline credit and i guess access to the centurion lounges.

but if i did get the plat, i'd get the charles schwabb variant so i can get that sexy 1.25 cash redemption rate.
