Huawei is dead in the US anyway. AT&T and Verizon refuse to let the phones on their networks.

the issue is google makes the operating system and then shit ass vendors like Samsung have to spend months hacking it up to get all their proprietary shitware installed on it.

If you buy a Google branded phone (Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL) you get the newest updates immediately.

Exactly why having a closed system on your own proprietary hardware is better. Google should be the only company that manufactures Android phones. I never understood the whole letting everyone mod the OS and release 5000 different versions of it model of Android.

What this ignorant person fails to realize is China is one of the biggest (If not THE biggest) markets for smartphones.

China is a big market for cheap smartphones. I guarantee you that the average 24 year old in China cannot afford an iPhone upgrade every year through a carrier like the consumers in the United States.

Monetarily speaking China and India are small tech markets compared to the United States. If you look at the US and Europe, I'd say that Apple and Samsung are the only companies that make a dent in the markets because they make the best hardware.Most casual consumers that aren't hardcore rom flashers don't want a $100 phone in developed countries, they want the latest Note or iPhone.

You changed OS's. People don't like change. There's obviously going to be a learning curve and adaptation period before you fully click with it. The same would be true if a lifelong Android user switched to iOS.

Update: I bought an iPhone 8 Plus this morning, and it's so much better for me. Apple just does what I want. I'm probably going to get a new iPad to go along with it, but I cannot tell you how satisfying it is to have iOS 11 in front of me when I'm using my phone now.

On Geekbench scores or whatever the OS is powerful, but IMO it just is not as good as iOS for a mobile phone. Honestly I know you can do all kinds of cool root things with it, but at the end of the day the iPhone runs apps better, and that's what it boils down to in mobile.

There are advantages to having built in Google stuff to your phone, but IMO unless you're on a Pixel (I was on a Samsung) it's going to be bogged down by the bloat of the phone manufacturer's version of the OS.

Google Play Music ran like shit on my Samsung Galaxy for example, while Apple Music runs flawlessly on my iPhone 8 Plus.

Got rid of my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and picked up an iPhone 8 Plus

I really missed my iPhone.

I also have a car with Android Auto/Car Play

so again I probably should cancel Sirius....

Love Google play music. But it's mostly for YouTube red. The music streaming is... Fine.

What sucks is I also like Sirius XM Radio in my car, and I'm starting to get to the point where I have too many subscription services.

if I go back to AM, I may have to cancel Sirius XM.

I have. Google Play Music is terrible compared to Apple Music IMO. The best thing about it is Youtube Red, but the actual music part of the app is something I do not use at all. It is hard to navigate, and does not have curated playlists like Apple Music. I'm probably going to keep it just for Youtube Red when I go back to my iPhone.

Don't feel bad.

It's not daunting, it's just not a system that I want to use. Personally for my phone use, a grid of icons works better on my home screen.

Android does some things better than iPhone, but it also does some things worse than iPhone too.

It can take some getting used to. A lot of design differences rub people the wrong way at first. And I know a lot of people like having iMessage.

I just like my iPad so much, and it just feels wrong to use a Samsung phone.
