More likely, their entire plan was to screw over just the voter base as a whole. If Hillary won, we'd be seeing the same stuff with pro-Trump stuff and pushing it hard talking about being an illegitimate President.

This is honestly what I expect most of the "meddling" to be. Barring the true criminal activity (hacking, data mining), the real stuff that Russia did wasn't maybe acting with a singular party, but setting up all these accounts to just screw with everyone. This is the new age of information, and it's going to be even more important to background check everything.

I mean, don't get me wrong. As the article points out, France just had a military parade. Britain from what I can tell had a military parade as recently as 2013. It's not like only dictatorships have these things.

It just feels like this is a complete waste of money and time for Trump to sit there and point at it and say "Look at how great our military is! Look how much we love them!" for his base. It serves no other purpose at this point.

I guess maybe the talk about the defector, but if that's literally all he commented on, that doesn't seem like enough to control the news stream.

Either way, just about what I expected from the State of the Union. Nothing truly inflammatory, a lot of remarks.

I actually do agree with what he is saying about North Korea.

North Koreans are oppressed, yet we ignore them. I bet 100 years down the line, people will look back on our generation with great shame that we let many people in that country suffer because we were lazy, satisfied where we were, rather than where our fellow humans were as well.

What can we do? We tried once with the Korean War. Now, we have an ally that's within Artillery distance of the country. how are supposed to defend against that?

Honestly, I'm glad I picked up 999 when it came to steam. The original game seemed interesting, until I heard about how you had to unlock endings. In puzzle games, the concept just fell flat for me. Thank goodness Steam put in a jump function.

As for ZTD....expect mixed results from people when you get to it. Some people l9ve the ending, I personally didn't care for it or the game as a whole honestly. VLR was good but 999 still stands out to me.

Maybe a silly question but would my basement be a good plan C?

Basement is an ok plan C if it's outside of the initial blast radius. The thing is, Fallout loses its radiation relatively quickly, within a matter of about 10 days to 2 weeks, and once it loses that amount, it's not actually dangerous. The biggest thing is to avoid any of the fallout where it could get into the building. That means your safest spots would be either a basement that has no windows or outside access, or the most interior room of a house with all the doors closed off and hunker down for the long haul.

I believe the currently largest nuke that NK has tested is like 15mt, which sounds like a lot, but is honestly pretty small on the nuclear scale (and yes, I know it's sad that I have to say that). From what I've read, the ground zero for a bomb of that magnitude would be about 1 mile, with radiation spreading out to about 3 miles. Mind you, that doesn't take into account wind and natrual landmasses, which there are few between.

So in the case of a direct hit on DC, you would be fine. An impact on Baltimore would really depend on where it hits. If you're within 2 or 3 miles of it, your best place to be would be in one of the underground parking garages of the hotels, as about 8 inches of concrete would be enough to block you from most radiation in the fallout.

Okay...yeah, Trump handled things poorly. The least he could have done was comment and apologize for what happened, and that there will be an investigation and to make sure it never happens again.

But ignoring the amped up rhetoric (which is all it's been, rhetoric), the situation between NK and the US is pretty much the same it's always been, save for NK now having nukes, which is a problem, yeah. But beyond that, the same sanctions are in place, NK is still doing its same saber rattling, and now we just have a President who wants to fire back on Twitter.

That said, the MoCA test from what I'm seeing is just...lazy. Like, it's absolutely easy, and if he got anything less than a perfect score I'd be scared. I haven't really bought into the "Trump is mentally unfit" line anyway. What I will say though is that makes all of his Tweets that much more sad. The moment North Korea attacked anyone, especially Seoul or Japan, they are done. It would be a heinous loss of life, and it would be unprovoked. Every country in the area would ensure that NK is nothing more than a crater in a week or 2.

That's why they will never attack anyone, despite Trump's constant attempts to make them while looking strong for his base.

What reason in the world would they have to keep an intercepted missile attack quiet? The only country that would have a reasonable reason to attack Hawaii is North Korea. China and Russia are not risking nuclear war launching a missile at the US. And I can say this; if North Korea launched a missile close enough that it would hit Hawaii, it wouldn't be kept quiet. That shit would be plastered across every news reel for hours as Trump would have the justification to turn Pyongyang into a crater.

There is no reason to assume that this is a cover up or conspiracy theory part to it.

There is no way in hell the US wouldn't have taken an actual missile launch, one that was targeted enough to threaten Hawaii, and tried to hush it up. If they could prove that it was launched by North Korea and came close enough to signal a ballistic missile alarm, Trump would be mobilizing an attack on Pyongyang as we speak.

At this point, we should just assume that it was a really, really big fuck up.

I'll be honest; I really think this mentally ill thing is being blown way out of proportion because of the book saying that he has some problems. I have had actual family that went through dementia, and it is not a funny thing. And honestly, Trump is interacting a lot better than either of my family members that had it. The fact that he can still tweet semi coherently is proof enough to me that he's not that completely out of it.

And I'll say it; if Trump was actually that bad off, I don't think that his cabinet would be willing to stand by him. If they thought he was so bad that he was a threat to the nation, Pence would either call the 25th or they would convince him to resign citing that the rumors around him, while unfounded, have clouded his goals. So he's going to leave it to Pence to finish his goals and run in 2020.

Oh he'd probably be insufferable. But at the very least we wouldn't have to deal with the embarrassment that is the fact that it's our nation's leader making these comments.

Anyway, at this point, nothing can be done. No one is going to launch nukes over this (if doing joint exercises with SK didn't make NK drop a bomb, a dumb tweet won't have that effect). All we're doing is continuing to degrade our international image, which at this point I don't think we are gonna be able to come back from.

Well, it's officially done. So, my thoughts.

Chapter 5: I'll be honest; I really did think Kokichi was going to be the mastermind of the whole thing. With the way v3 had screwed around with expectations, The Mastermind revealing himself in Chapter 5 and actually being the Mastermind would have been an interesting twist, and I was looking forward to seeing what happened with Chapter 6.

However, the actual case was pretty interesting, in that you go back and forth on who actually died. When the poison was introduced and Maki started talking about shooting Kaito, I immediately jumped to another suicide, where Kaito told Kokichi to disable the safety function so he could find a way to crush himself. The fact that Kokichi thought up the plan though paints him in a whole new light, and honestly solidifies him as one of my favorite characters. Everything he did from the beginning was his way of trying to fight the Mastermind, even if it made people look at him like he was a complete ass. The sacrifice to try and make the Unknowable Culprit happen was a great ploy, shame it didn't work.

Chapter 6:I wasn't a huge fan of the investigation portion, simply because it felt antithetical to everything DR was to me. Getting a chance to talk to the characters and see their responses was nice, instead of being on a limited number of clicks. Beyond that, it was a pretty straightforward case. As soon as the Secret Passageway in the Bathroom was brought up, I remembered Tsumugi mentioning it, which pinned her as the mastermind almost immediately. And I will say the final boss fight with Keebo is easily the toughest thing to ever come out of a Danganronpa game. That fight on Mean is a nightmare.

Ending: Alright, let me get this out of the way right now; I can see exactly why this sort of ending is going to split the fanbase. It is honestly a huge, huge risk to create this sort of ending, especially with the implications that this is the final Danganronpa.

I get what they're going for, but...I don't know, everything about it felt off. In one sense, I loved this sort of meta-narrative about how these characters are forced to suffer just because we're sadistic fucks who want to see them suffer all in the pursuit of hope. It's hard to deny that's the case. One of the things that everyone talks about with Danganronpa is the idea of "falling to despair" and the fight back to hope.

But at the same time, the ending honestly gave me this feeling of the game saying "You don't really care about these characters. If you liked them, you wouldn't be making Danganronpa popular to begin with. And even if you do care, why? They aren't real." which is ridiculous. The reason DR is such an interesting, fun series to me is because I feel for the characters. When I realized Gonta was the culprit in Chapter 4, I wanted to cry manly tears. When Kaito was giving his final speech, I felt proud of him, because the idiot was doing his best to support people to the end. And then, in the end, the game goes "Who cares about all that character development? It's all fictional, it doesn't matter!" While I understand that the epilogue gives you the feeling that they do matter, it took them literally being willing to sacrifice their lives to change the public opinion, which I feel is a bit ridiculous for the reasons stated above.

All in all, I'm happy to have played DR v3. Who knows what I'll play next.

Just finished Chapter 4.

...God. Fucking. Dammit. That was probably the most difficult trial to get through in the entire series. Not because of the actual puzzles, those were straightforward. But that realization dawning that the most innocent guy of them all was the killer...I just didn't want to finish this.

Also, Oma is slowly creeping up the ranks for me. He may actually reach Nagito tier depending on how this game finishes at this rate. His straight up dragging of every other character in this trial made him a glorious bastard for me.
