lol. I'm 36, she's 20. That's not important.

Shes my Spanish teacher, she's ridiculously smart and mature beyond her years. She feels little compatibility with most guys her own age. We can talk for hours about just about anything. She's pretty intellectual though, shes one of those people graduated high school early and went to uni early. So I wouldn't say she's typical.

But, I spent a long time in a relationship with an incredibly immature, selfish, manipulative, pathological liar who was just one year younger than me.

My GF is a thousand times the woman my ex was. Age really is just a number, you can't put people in boxes. If that person feels right, and you click, then I think it's stupid to walk away because someone else might disapprove.

I'm not sure how you're coming to this conclusion about her.

She said that most guys she meets just want sex and she isn't sure what romance is, and because of that a guy who showed a little bit of attention to who she is made her feel special, but she knows that it might not have been "real romance".

That's stupid. I'm a white British guy with a Mexican woman. I listen to Mexican and Spanish music through her. By her standard that would be cultural appropriation, by mine it's showing an interest in her culture.

Even if I wasn't with her, if I chose to listen to it anyway, I'm allowed to enjoy stuff that isn't from my country or culture. It isn't wrong.

My relationship ended last year which was a good thing because it was very negative, but bad because I have two kids, so have had to deal with that. I'm borderline their primary carer while she goes out and tries to be 17 again.

My dad was diagnosed with cancer and died in the summer (it happened so fast I still haven't fully processed it) and my mum has became ill afterwards. So I would say a very bad year.

But, I also started a new relationship earlier in the year, with someone who's been incredible through everything and brought a lot of warmth and happiness to what would otherwise be a dismal year.

So fairly bad rather than very bad, I feel it would be insulting to her to say very bad and I don't think my dad would want me to be negative like that. I also think I'm a better father not dealing with my ex' crap, and they are thriving.

Depends and nobody can really say until they are faced with it.

You don't really choose who you end up dating or in a relationship with. Not most of the time anyway, and if you meet someone who you wouldn't normally date but end up clicking with them, your rules often go out the window.

I've kinda gone through that myself recently. I spent a long time in a very unpleasant relationship with a really selfish person which eventually ended.

I always said I'd never date anyone more than about 5 years younger or older than me. But, after that relationship ended I started to get closer to my Spanish tutor, sorta talking more personally and gradually we started talking every day. We didn't really realise until it was too late that we were pretty much seeing each other.

She's 20, I'm 36. She isn't exactly typical of most 20 year olds though, she graduated high school 2 years early and went to uni. She's much closer to me than other 20 year olds and neither of us look our ages so it isn't uncomfortable.

I always said I wouldn't date someone with an age gap, but here I am doing just that and she's a wonderful person who I have a lot of respect for. She's done more in her life than most people I know and she's ridiculously smart. You can't put people in boxes.

So, yeah, that's my opinion on this stuff.

I don't understand anyone thinking it's a good idea to get a loan that has an insane interest rate like that. Like if you were hurting for $1,000, you know you're not disciplined enough with money get out of that debt. Go mow yards and clean gutters after work for a few weeks.

Desperation and few options. Life can be tough, and odd jobs don't always make a lot of difference, they can be pissing in the ocean. This makes credit attractive.

It's a bad idea to take payday loans though, if you're struggling and don't have many options then they will make matters worse and financial hardship longer term, any credit will.

It's better to scale everything back, wipe anything that isn't essential out, try to make more money. Get yourself on your feet.

If there are debts then talk to companies you owe money to, most businesses will treat "can't pay" and "won't pay" very differently and will give you room to get yourself on track.

I can see why it would be annoying.

I speak Spanish and Japanese (I'm still learning in both). There is a notable difference in how people react to these two languages.

"Oh, do you like Japanese girls?"
"Ah, you like anime?"
"Are you into martial arts?"

I dislike most anime, I don't have a fetish for Japanese girls and I know nothing of karate. It's annoying and seems kinda unique to Japanese stuff.

Letting kids win all the time is a bad idea. I don't think it's teaching them anything and it isn't encouraging them to work hard at things.

In any game with my kids, whether it's a video game, board game, or a sport, I play fairly on their level. So I hold back a little or deliberately give them opportunities to win. But I don't give the win away.

This allows them to win, but not all of the time and they'll have to work for it. My kids get annoyed if someone purposefully lets them win, they like being challenged and I guess it's more satisfying for them when they do win.

the short version is that there is a Youtube Kids platform where Youtube shows kid-friendly videos that young kids can click through. basically some people discovered there were lots of videos on there with very questionable content.

these were often low-effort, palette swap videos featuring characters like elsa from frozen, spiderman, and other known ones all doing things you do not want your kids seeing - getting mutilated/hurt, getting drunk, doing drugs, having sex, taking a shit, etc.

what happens is that when a kid finishes a youtube video on his iPad, another one will auto queue up and these videos are often part of that. so many of them are getting millions of views from lots of young kids.

That's screwed up. They have pretty big problems then because they were talking about sexualisation on the news the other week. So they have this too.

I'm glad I don't leave my kids unsupervised even on YouTube Kids. My daughter ended up on a weird video once, kids injuring themselves doing roller skating or pranks. That from some dance routine videos.

I know several non Christian Asian families (Sikh and Muslim) who celebrate parts of the celebration as a cultural holiday. I suspect many probably do.

As one of my clients (a Muslim) said once, Jesus is a prophet in islam so it can be done. It doesn't offend me in the slightest.
