Part of it has to do with the created fantasies it allows the typical sports viewers to self-insert into, the two primary ones being the player fantasy and the owner fantasy. The player fantasy is mostly harmless where viewers vicariously experience victory or some feeling of adrenaline by molding a part of their identity with that of certain players or even the team as a whole. The owner fantasy is much more insidious where the viewer does not have a sense of identity tied to the team or members of the team directly but sees himself as "owning" the team i.e. a collective group of individuals with superior physical strength to do his will. This of course allows a systemic racist viewpoint to prosper ultimately resulting in a problematic power dynamic which permeates into societal norms and expectations.

Japanese games are trash anyway so nothing lost.

In regards to entertainment casting and whatnot, it's not racism. It's preference.

Casting directors appeal to the markets and markets highly prefer non-Asians so that's what they get.
