Have never personally found it to be the level of addictive that you might be making it out to be. Hardest part about quitting weed-- and it's not terrible-- is when you try to go to sleep without it for the first time in a while. Sometimes your body's like "Hey, where's my sleep aid? I'm not going to let you fall asleep!" That part can suck but it subsides quickly.

Can't imagine trading weed for cancer sticks. Have you tried video games or taking up a hobby? That's a favorable alternative.

I think whenever you think of a drug as leaving a hole in your life that needs to be filled with something, you're basically setting yourself up to do that drug again.

I can see your side of it... well said. It's also entirely mentality*, so if someone was to try something along the lines of what I suggested and they really want to quit, it can serve as a helpful transition, I think.

Edit: In some cases it's also physical, but any type of addiction more than likely started out as a mental thing before it might have become physical.

If they really aren't determined to quit-- or still like (to use) it as a guilty pleasure, then yeah it could easily just be a void that fills itself up again with that same drug/addiction. That's why so many cig smokers don't/can't find the willpower to stick it out. Same with gambling and many others.

This was last night.

I ran around in the very first area trying to collect 100 coins for what felt like 30 minutes+ thinking I would get a Star/Shine or something along those lines... and nothing popped up.

"Wtf not even a 1UP?" I was bummed and laughed at the same time. Can't even be mad. This game's fun and the controls are great.

Don't spoil anything for me please, kiddos. I quit the game after that to watch Stranger Things. Had to quit THAT after the first episode because the wife fell asleep.

Well... I suppose I could continue watching it, but that'd be kind of a low move while she's out doing a wine/paint thing tonight.

There's my weekend story, guys. Hope you all are having a fun Halloween weekend!

Not an overnight miracle cancer cure, but it helps your odds over time.

Prevention is the best cure, and while there is no single cancer cure, there are tons of things one can do to take preventative measures.

I don't mean to insult those who have fallen victim to cancer, before anyone jumps my shit. I hate cancer as much as the next person does. Lost my grandmother to pancreatic cancer and my mom survived a type of skin cancer (easiest to catch and beat).

Veganism, exercise, cannabis, and laughing are great ways to fight it.

I am amazed at how therapeutic this has been for me, sorting cards and building a database on my computer with pictures and stuff. Contemplating using MS Access versus LibreOffice Base for extra satisfaction and organization. Either, really.

At first I was a bit hesitant (to say the least) at jumping into buying Magic anything again for financial reasons. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford these things, but is still the nagging "adult" feeling that I am completely wasting my money. And in a huge way, I am.

That said, I loved this stuff back in the day. Collecting them, playing with friends, and then it hit me all over again-- the art.

Oh my god, the art is still amazing. Battling with art, the numbers, the nostalgia, the vibrant W/U/B/R/G colors, the strategy... everything came rushing back. I never had the money to afford a booster box as a kid. Opening these up with my wife and getting excited over collecting dinosaurs, merfolk, pirates, and vampires gave me the same feeling that a kid has on Christmas morning.

(Oh, and we opened up a Carnage Tyrant... For those who might play Magic here.)

As of right now, we're going to get into Standard rotation beginning with this set only. We're at a disadvantage by only using this set, but in the long run to me it makes sense not to pour money into stuff rotating out sooner.

Our local comic store does Two-Headed Giant (2v2) games. I figured my wife and I could divide our collection up and play separate colors for maximum efficiency in our limited collection. She wants to make a dinosaur deck and I'm thinking of using merfolk. May personally switch to vampires when more sets are released.

I missed this. Anyone here play or used to play?

...because they asked the police who declined to reveal the location. Unless you're suggesting that this was a false flag -- at which point far more people would be involved than just the security guard -- I think we can take their word on this. However, the LA Times seems to be pushing the idea that it was a conspiracy involving the local sheriff's department as they've criticized the department for releasing inconsistent information based on the time-line (which, when you push for answers before all the facts are fully understood, tends to happen) and all but calls the delay in response suspicious.

Oh, hush. You don't even know what a false flag operation is, Zeus. You won't even acknowledge Operation Northwoods in any of my posts.

Says the guy who spends all day imagining vast conspiracies where GWB is using GMOs to turn people into frogs or some nonsense. Granted, your hatred of GMOs fits nicely into your anti-science views which inform your irrational credence in nutty conspiracy theories.

I don't listen to Alex Jones if that's what the frog reference is, but I've heard the quote. Funny. Guessing you haven't read up on GMOs all that much either. Doesn't sound that far fetched to me to believe that whatever is engineered to kill/ward off insects (pesticide equivalents) could also have harmful effects on our bodies.

The research on GMOs and the anti-Big Pharma movements both suggest that our health is not in their interests. At all. I mean come on, we live by the rules of the same people who made it illegal to film what goes on in those mass slaughter house farms. I won't be the anti-animal cruelty vegan here, but their living conditions are sicker than anyone can imagine and even affects those who live within miles of it.

If the U.S. truly cared about our health, they'd take preventative measures as opposed to being in the business of "treating" the ill. But they wouldn't profit from that.

But hey, I'm just a nutty conspiracy theorist. I forgot we aren't supposed to ask questions.
