Paid expansion/map packs after launch? these are not the same. map packs are still by far and large treated as peace meal content akin to how PC games got(or still get from the right devs) content updates for free back then. anyways the only way extra content imo should be handled is in traditionally large content expansions that at first glance justifies their release and priced accordingly. CDPR basically did everything i'm asking for with witcher 3: -free peace meal content releases that would basically feel like highway robbery if they charged for them(an extra quest or two, some hair options, armor sets, alternate character skins etc.) -2 huge expansions that fairly reflected themselves in their pricing; $10 for HoS and $20 for B&W released at an appropriate time to not make people think they were working on them from the beginning and cut the content from the main game in order to sell them a month or two after launch this way has also traditionally been done with RTS. no crap like "buy an extra map" for $5 or shit like that. --- |

| AsucaHayashi 11/18/17 8:05:06 AM #7 | At this point the market themselves are wanting this stuff in games. wanting games to play =/= wanting microtransactions in games. it's the same thing with the recent trend of superhero movies making up the absolute bulk of big blockbusters throughout the year. the choices come down to avoiding watching big popcorn flicks as much as before, even though your interest in them has only gotten bigger, or keep watching them knowing that the superhero theme is a necessary evil to get the type of entertainment and adventure that big blockbusters usually provide. --- |

Not like the console goes bad where you can't play it anymore or it cannot be sold to someone else to recuperate costs. consoles inevitably and arbitrarily stop getting new games in order to push new hardware regardless if the older hardware can easily run them or not. switch is barely more powerful than wii u but there are no more new wii u games on the horizon and people who stick with the wii u will soon have exhausted the full library of games. selling is just a poor argument overall since now they're left without a gaming device and are again forced to fork out for another platform with its own set of peripherals on top of new games. instead they could have spent the money investing correctly from the start and know for a fact that when their device is 10 years old with nothing changed, there would still be new "very low" requirement games released for it. --- |

| AsucaHayashi 11/12/17 9:23:38 PM #2 | i'd take their current direction over first party exclusives tbh even if others won't. ditching kinect for a traditional experience, slowly implementing improved BC, xbox play anywhere game sharing with PC and releasing games simultaneously with PC(even if you're forced to get them through the windows store). slowly building a solid base is far more preferable than going all in on a few select games that can only be played on a proprietary system which is probably why the wii u is now completely dead in the water. i'm waiting to see how their supposed netflix-for-games service turns out. anything would be better than sony's excuse of a game service and reselling emulated classics that just so happens don't work with the discs you already own. --- |

| AsucaHayashi 11/12/17 5:45:35 PM #7 | is it even worth getting into the arrowverse of shows if you're not following everything and from the beginning? marvel/netflix is different since they usually have an endgame and the individual shows are pretty short, tight and focused with no real fillers to drag the show out even if not all of them were well-received. in comparison arrow has 140 episodes so far, flash with 92, and LoT with 50... on top of that there's supergirl/something called vixen/constantine. again i don't know how connected each entry is within the universe but goddamn that's a LOT to get through with seemingly no end in sight. --- |
