Weird, everyone I know who went there is black. They made it sound like it was mostly black students.

There's a fair number of black students, definitely. If I had to say ratios though, I'd say it LOOKS like it might be about:

40% Asian
30% White
20% Black
10% Hispanic

I just don't think there are too many black people this semester. Currently though, the only person in the school I am "affiliated" with for a lack of a better word, is a black woman. Still haven't really jumped to making new connections yet, but there's potential out there.

I have no issue with them. There's one in my Japanese class I think that quietly wants to be friends with me. After two classes, she moved her seat next to me. People we sit beside, we do activities with. Prior to her sitting there, it was some other kid. When we paired for the activity, she seemed excited. Next class, another kid took that seat again and I worked with him. Today, she was in the class far earlier than she's ever been and she was in the seat right next to were I typically sit again.

The University of California system has a pretty extreme over representation of Asians relative to the population.

And that, I have no problem with. It took me a few days but it just hit me. Like... everywhere I look. Even when the school was kind of on shutdown an hour ago, an Chinese lady came up to me as I was doing homework in the Hall and asked me how to print. I took my time to help her, bu almost missed my train for that. I'm too selfless sometimes. >_>

It's kind of incredible how many Asians go to this place. I mean, I know Chinatown is a hop-skip-jump away in a sense by subway, but I can't go anywhere without about 10 Asians at all times.

I suppose I thought it would be more black and white with some Asian mixed in, but this kind of amazes me.

Currently at Umass Boston.

The place clearly has its issues. It's nice to be on the water. It's got its history. It's close to where I live and convenient. I love that all computers have access to all the Adobe programs.

But I'd be lying if I said I have no problems with it.

- The place is under construction so there's piles of dirt and massive construction plans onlooking for the next two or three years I'd say.
- It's a small peeve, but no classrooms have clocks in them and it bothers me.
- The whole place was built slanted.... by that, I mean the doorways and some staircases (such as the library), you have to walk sideways to go through/up? It's strange going up angled stairs.
- Their administration/financial aid offices are little to no help.
- You can't find anyone for help at 6-8AM before classes start.
- Desks are terrible.
- The train system around the times I go in and come back are shitty. (Not their fault though. Totally Keolis)
- Their "upper level" floor is confusing as Hell since it is actually a lower level.
- They still advertise cafes at the school that were shut down. I've traveled across the campus to one building I never go to to eat at a cafe that was closed but the websites online and even the info desk still advertised that it was active and running.
- They have not too many choices in the food court.

I want to buy a school shirt to show my pride but I just have no pride to display yet. The school could be a lot better.

It all stems from one thing.
Education.
A great number of our nation refuses to educate themselves. It's to the point they don't believe in school and one particular side practically condemns all education that isn't charter schooling.

Schooling despite those beliefs, helps a lot. Learning the way the government runs for example, should be something everyone is willing to educate themselves over. If you are going to vote in this country, it is best you know what the cause and effects of your vote are.
