They are the names given to each generation of Intel CPU. So Kaby Lake is the 7th gen and Coffee Lake is the 8th gen. You can usually tell by the first number after the i3/5/7 e.g. i5 7600, i7 7700, i3 7300 would all be "Kaby Lake" or "7th gen" Intel CPU. | trodi_911 10/27/17 8:38:29 AM #18 | Probably not the best pricing on either but here are two builds I'd recommend Less Expensive (i5 7600k ver) https://pcpartpicker.com/user/lolzies0/saved/#view=yPR4CJ More Expensive (i5 8600k ver) https://pcpartpicker.com/user/lolzies0/saved/#view=LT6BP6 The more expensive one has the latest released Coffee Lake Intel CPU and 16GB of RAM and the less expensive one has a Kaby Lake Intel CPU and only 8GB of RAM. There are some things to note: Coffee Lake CPUs are only supported on Z370 motherboards so watch for that even though it has the same socket as Kaby Lake. You can choose whatever case you want. I only put it in there so I could give you an approximate price. You can go with 8 or 16 GB of RAM for either one. Again I gave these options for approximate prices.] The graphics card and the hard drive aren't adding to the price because as you said, you are going to use the ones you already have.
