What I don't understand most from the left, other than the "there is an infinite number of genders and you are what you say you are" stuff, is that the two most common talking points for the last year are these

- trump is an idiot, his iq is very low, he's literally mentally unfit for office

Those are very harsh words, but the same people who say that also subscribe to...

-trump is a political mastermind who pulled off rhe heist of the century when he and Putin colluded to hack the election

Seems very contradictory.

I think you're lumping two very disparate groups together here under one label. I don't think there are people espousing both those beliefs; I fall into the first camp in that I believe Trump is a moron who, if he had colluded with Russia, would have bragged about it publicly six hours later.

Conversely, for the Russia truthers, these are people who seem to think him posting dumbass bullshit on Twitter is part of a grand distraction tactic, rather than "the same shit he was doing the past six years before taking office."

This division roughly mirrors views on Hillary Clinton: those who believe Hillary Clinton is a saint and their mom find it hard to admit that she could have possibly lost to this reality show clown, and so they turn Trump (and Bannon too) into a secret political mastermind.

TopicThe 17 House districts without any Democratic candidates (yet) for 2018

https://mic.com/articles/187060/here-are-the-17-congressional-districts-without-a-democratic-candidate-for-2018#.2kx8PEjEr

Since President Donald Trumps inauguration, an explosion of new Democratic candidates are stepping up to run for office at just about every level of government and as the party heads into the 2018 election cycle, theyve managed to secure a major head start in candidate recruitment.

In all but 20 congressional districts, at least one Democrat has filed to run with the Federal Elections Commission. Of those 20 open seats, three new have candidates who have formally declared their candidacy but have not yet filed with the FEC.

That leaves just 17 congressional districts where Republicans do not yet have a declared challenger from the major opposition party. Depending on the state, filing deadlines in these races are as far out seven months away.

For context, there are still 80 U.S. districts in which no Republican has filed to run, so far. On Election Day in 2016, Democrats didnt have a candidate in 28 congressional races, while Republicans had no candidate in 25 races.

Some Democratic political strategists, including former DNC Chair Howard Dean, have been arguing for years that Democrats should run a candidate in every race, even when the odds are considerably against them.

And with the recent election of Doug Jones in Alabama, the party may inch closer to that position. If the Democrats can field candidates for the last crop of 17 seats before each states filing deadline, they could make the rare move of running a candidate in every single House race in 2018.

Here are the districts that still dont have a declared Democratic candidate

Utahs 1st
North Carolinas 3rd
Wyomings At-Large

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/01/05/ice-move-forward-caregivers-deportation/1009303001/

Federal immigration officials said Friday they will proceed with the deportation of an Ohio man who is the sole provider and trained medical caregiver of a 6-year-old paraplegic boy.

The Detroit office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement issued a statement via email to The Cincinnati Enquirer, which profiled the boy, Ricky Solis, and had requested an update on the case on Wednesday.

Yancarlos Mendez, 27, of Springdale has lived with the boy's mother, Sandra Mendoza, since 2014 and has become the only father Ricky has known. His birth father is no longer in Ricky's life after he had beaten and emotionally abused Mendoza.

When told of ICE's decision, Mendoza said, "I can't believe this. Why is this happening?"

ICE said that Mendez "entered the United States lawfully under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) before violating the program terms by overstaying his visit for a period exceeding two years. VWP participants waive their rights to a hearing before an immigration judge and are subject to detention prior to their removal.

"ICE has carefully reviewed his case and determined he was ineligible for any agency relief, and as such will move forward with his repatriation to his home country.

Mendez has dual citizenship in Spain and the Dominican Republic. He had worked as an auto mechanic while living in Springdale.

Ricky, 6, was paralyzed from the waist down and suffered dozens of other serious injuries in an auto crash in February.

Mendez and Mendoza underwent medical training, which included a 24-hour supervised period before Ricky would be discharged from Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

Mendez has not been with his family since a Butler County judge sentenced him to 30 days in the county jail. He had been stopped earlier in November for driving without a valid license, his second such offense.

While in Butler County, the sheriff's office alerted federal immigration officials that it was holding Mendez. When his sentence was completed at Butler County, Mendez was placed into federal custody and transferred to the Morrow County Jail, north of Columbus. He remained there Friday.

Nazly Mamedova, the family's immigration attorney, applied for a one-year suspension of deportation with ICE. She said the family would suffer severe hardship if Mendez were deported.

"This is so disheartening," she said of ICE's decision.

Mamedova also said she received an email from an ICE caseworker in Columbus who said that the officer there has not received word that the application was denied. He said he would contact her Monday with an update.

Mamedova went with Mendoza and Ricky to a medical appointment Friday to Children's Hospital. Ricky is suffering from ongoing internal bleeding and will require more surgery in February.

"He is not healing fast enough," Mamedova said.

As a U.S. citizen, Ricky is a Medicaid patient. Mendoza had to quit her job in a pizza restaurant to care for Ricky around the clock. She said she is struggling financially without her fianc and cannot pay her $565 rent this month.
