Not many of them do much for me, but if Khrystyana is considered "plus sized", there's something wrong with the standards. I get that models are supposed to be walking clothes hangers and all, but calling that body plus sized is just a generation of eating disorders in the making.

By that standard, Jennifer Lawrence, Katheryn Winnick, and Alexandra Daddario would be plus sized.

Hell, I'll concede that maybe gals like Kat Dennings and Milana Vayntraub are plus sized, but there's nothing wrong with their weight or body type. We're not talking Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, or Roseanne Barr here.

Given the choice between the three, and being forced to be trapped in an elevator with one of them for a few hours, I'd probably pick Gaiman.

Now I can't say I've ever met or conversed with Miller or Moore at any length but I am a bit biased in that regard where Gaiman is concerned having had the opportunity to have a couple of beers with him after a book signing for the release of Neverwhere. I've told the story here many times so I'll save you the particulars but the man seemed very down to earth and humble to a fault given the praise being heaped upon him at the time and the bubble his core fandom had the power to create. Not at all what I'd expected. Certainly not the self absorbed ball of angst and brooding I'd anticipated under the false premise that The Lord Shaper was an author proxy. If anything, his self insertion character was Hob Gadling if I had to guess.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that he (at least as of just over 20 years ago) was certainly not a pretentious, navel gazing "artiste" despite it being easy to expect that of him.

A large part of that stems almost entirely from his work on The Sandman, though. Partly because of the sort of audience who were hugely into it at the time *cough*mall goths*cough*, but also because it seemed to key off a specific sort of subculture/mentality that I didn't identify with in any way (a similar problem I had with Changeling: The Dreaming early on, for similar and understandable reasons). What I always sort of think of as 1990s San Francisco in my head, for related reasons. Though which, in retrospect, I might define as "Art Hipster" (it may need tweaking).

It might be worth revisiting Sandman with fresh eyes--the writing on Sandman is actually quite good, at least thru what should have been the conclusion of the entire thing in Kindly Ones before he was pestered into beating a dead horse and adding several unnecessary books to the series that were obviously cash grabs.

Those original books are the kind of writing that largely went over the heads of the mall goths you despise since they only ever paid any attention to Dream, Death, or maybe Delirium anyway for fashion cues. Sure some of Gaiman's work is hit or miss, but he's kind of like Dave Mustaine and Megadeth in that regard. When he's bad, he's terrible but when he's good, he's outstanding.

I'll never understand hating a work of art because of it's fandom (unless we're talking about bronies or Juggalos, then by all means hate away). Nobody is asking you to cavort around comic-con dressed as Destiny and it's not like reading Preludes and Nocturnes is going to have you suddenly running out to Spencer's or Hot Topic for a spiked choker, a Marilyn Manson lunch box and fishnet arm gloves ffs.

Just sayin PO, at our age I think we've long passed the point of having to justify our interests in the context of "I like "x", but I'm not like those other people that like "x"".

In other news, picked up a cheap copy of Neil Gaimon's Neverwhere which has been pretty decent. Granted, I'm not a fan of the intrusive narrative textboxes which I assumed (quite rightly) were a holdover from the original novel. Can't recall hearing about the tv show prior to this (no doubt partly due to having been on the BBC), but may check it out as well.

I think I still have a 90s era bootleg VHS of the series in my basement somewhere, it was very hard to get a hold of stateside, at least back then...but as far as Gaiman stories go there are a few major plot holes in Neverwhere that sort of ruin that one for me all around.

I might be behind on some of his most recent works and collaborations, but as much as I hate to admit it...unless his most recent works are stellar he seems to have peaked somewhere between Anansi Boys and Mirrormask .

"Shrugs" I've always been clear on my distaste for monster Hunter, I couldn't care less about nioh, and my opinion of dark souls has always been that it's Devil May Cry slowed down hard enough to make second guessing yourself into a game mechanics.

I replay those two every year and still think they're some of the best games ever made, and in the case of Vagrant Story, probably THE best game ever made (tied with Valkyrie Profile, of course).

Though I am playing Terranigma for the first time and it's possibly the best game I've played on the SNES, maybe the best I've played all year, so that #1 spot is in danger.

The best thing we can do is make a list, of whatever you're rating, then go back in a few years and see if your opinion of the game has changed.

That's a good point. There are plenty of games from past generations that were worthy of high praise at the time but have aged about as well as unrefrigerated fish.

Something like Bushido Blade comes to mind as an example. Certainly revolutionary at it's time of release, and to this day I'm not sure we've seen anything like it, but it has aged terribly to put it mildly. The same could be said of games like Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve. Unique, certainly but long in the tooth as anything other than a historical footnote 20 years later.

I think he was guilty in the sense that some of his actions were wildly inappropriate around children in his home.

That being said, I don't think any of it actually had a predatory romantic or sexual intent, and that MJ was just a really messed up individual from a psychological standpoint, but entirely harmless. I think he himself had regressed into a child like mental state himself and couldn't conceive of why his actions would be interpreted as creepy.

I don't believe for a second that his intention was to hurt these kids or that he even understood why his behavior would be considered inappropriate.
