I haven't thought about the unholy trinity since the old LUE days. Still not as bad as the pain series, though.

Pain series?

Wikipedia used to describe it in great detail. I've never viewed it, and do not intend to. As I recall, it's seven collages of shock and gore images.

They're just drawings, right?

Nope, photographs and a small bit of anime if I recall.

I'm a bit skeptical about the unemployment rate, as it doesn't account for people that have dropped out of the labor force for an extended period of time and aren't actively seeking employment.

All in all though, I'm convinced the economy is in a transitional period between a "stable" but low-growth economy due to Obama/Fed rigging, and a somewhat less stable but high-growth economy due to Trump tax cuts and deregulation, characterized by a great deal of bullishness due to the simultaneous wealth generation and stability. But I don't think this will last, and we're overdue for a correction before organic growth resumes and we see a truly healthy economy.

it's silly for you to say it like this, because whenever republicans have done something to curb union power they have excepted police and fire unions

so its really not "simple" to do that at all

I didn't articulate my point so well, but that's absolutely correct. Republicans defend police unions; Dems defend teacher's unions. If one party tries to take on public unions, the pet public union of the other will raise hell. It's also quite uncommon for a party to screw its pet union(s).

This, it's a pretty government-created problem. Rolling back the power of police unions would go a long way, but it would be simpler (and less 'discriminatory') to roll back the power of public sector unions as a whole, which Dems would never allow.

All in all though, the National Review has historically been the gold standard with respect to American conservatism, though I'm not sure if their reputation remains strong in the wake of the past election season.

If the bitcoin devs don't do something about the transaction times/fees, Bitcoin's going to be supplanted by something more competitive in that regard.

With that said, I'm not so optimistic about Bitcoin reaching 1M even if it does overcome its growing pains. That would mean the market cap of Bitcoin would become equivalent to nearly 10% of all the wealth in the world right now.

I think the question of stop-and-frisk is a shibboleth that separates authcons from libcons.

Good move on the National Review's part, though I still can't forgive them for their joining in the collective war drum beating before the Iraq war. Also not a big fan of their purge of the "fringes" (Libertarian, Radical Anti-Communists) of the American Right in the 1960s.

You adapt to it.

Though 28 hours isn't a bad idea, granted workers have the choice to work longer and earn more accordingly.

Productivity, at least for myself, begins to wane after 5.5 hours. I can push it to 8 (or 16) with lots of coffee+tea, but it takes a toll on my sleep patterns.

Trump has militarist, nationalist, and authoritarian tendencies (the latter of which is constrained by what's left of checks and balances), but that's pretty much where the comparisons end. His supporters' sympathies fall all across the libertarian-authoritarian spectrum.

Ironically, the New Deal (and to a lesser extent, the Democratic party's economic and social policies since FDR) was textbook fascism.
