She basically just finds really unique social microcosms and explores them. There are 4 seasons so far--she has done episodes on professional sugar babies, drug tourism to south america, professional pickup artists, drug use among mormons, and many more. Sorry, but growing up in a stable family, going to private school, access educational resources, being born wealthy, etc. all give you a head start in life. All those women can pass as female, but they want to get on the stage and show the world what is possible. That takes an incredible amount of confidence and courage. I have a lot of respect for them. Most of them have overcome enormous obstacles to get where they are. |

In today's society with mass production of food, that sort of extreme scenario is unlikely. I am not sure things will ever get bad enough for a revolt. |

| CiIantro 12/02/17 11:00:58 PM #1 | When I was younger, I planned to reproduce for selfish reasons like passing on the family genes/having someone to inherit my stuff. As I have gotten older though, I have realized how superficial and pointless that is. It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and an absurd amount of time to raise a kid. And for what? They might end up becoming a druggie, you might end up hating each other, or they could get hit by a bus before they are even an adult. I just fail to see the point. Not to mention they could end up with a birth defect or a mental illness and spend their entire life in pain and misery. Bringing someone into the world is non-consensual, and ethically questionable. All that time and money would be better spent on yourself. Learn a new language, use the money to travel the world, or retire early. Leave your wealth to a charity or political cause that you care about. That would have a far greater impact on the world than just leaving it for your kids to squander. It is little different than just leaving it to a stranger. They aren't you. They didn't make the money and they won't be a continuation of your life's work. After 3 generations, nobody will even remember you, and if they do, they wont care (doesn't matter how much money you leave them). And yeah, you can argue that raising kids is an enjoyable experience, but should we really be creating life for our own amusement? That makes them little more than pets that can talk. |
