| Jeff AKA Snoopy 10/29/17 12:27:51 PM #1 | I work at a local mom and pop game store in my city. We got in the new Switch bundle with Mario Odyssey. The bundle comes with the system with Mario Red Joycons, Mario Odyssey, and a Carrying Case for 500 (Canadian, woo) This price is basically what you would pay if you bought all these things separately, in a nice package. The red Joycons seem to be exclusive to this model, as well as the carrying case. All people have been saying so far is how Nintendo is screwing everyone over because, and I quote, "It's a bundle. Why are they charging that much for a bundle? Nintendo is screwing us" They are charging regular retail price? It's not like they are charging EXTRA for the damn thing, they are charging what you would pay for all parts, with exclusive stuff in it. Far be it for me to defend a lot of Nintendo's practices, like barring content behind Amiibo... but... really? This is how Nintendo is screwing you over? --- |

Arguably you could say the best option was to have a strong PC and a Wii-U, but if that wasn't an option, to have the most amount of games to play that were worth it, you definitely were not going to need a Wii-U. It wasn't a bad system, just didn't have enough on it to make it a worthy successor to something like the Gamecube. --- |

The only job a government should take on is to make sure you are left the fuck alone and nobody takes away your rights. It's a minimalist point of view, that people should be left alone for the most part. Conservatives tend to believe in this freedom, and that anything more than that is a waste of money and encroaches against freedom. Positive Freedom - Freedom is the ability to be given the same opportunities as everyone else. Freedom means nothing if you aren't given the opportunity to actually make use of it, that some start off the "rat race" ahead of others due to basically luck. People who believe in positive freedom (typically liberals) tend to think the job of the government is to even the odds for everyone, give everyone a chance at the same lifestyle as everyone else. These fundamental concepts are a major part of the ideological differences that exist between the two major political views in the United States. Also, the US was founded on the whole principle of not trusting government, so a lot of people just will never trust the government enough to let them have any modicum of control over things. --- |

Loot box is basically a system set up by game developers to randomize loot you get while playing games, but rather than it being through regular gameplay, you "earn currency" to open up a box which contains random loot. You can typically use real money to just buy these boxes instead of playing the game to earn it. In some cases (Shadow of War), they have specific items that are locked in loot boxes you can ONLY buy with real money, as opposed to earning the currency through gameplay. --- |

Nothing that you can get in that loot box cannot be purchased with that same currency. Even if it is at a higher amount of coins, that's just how it is. For example, if a "loot box" is worth 100 Currency, a legendary item will be priced at like, 1000 currency. 2. Stuff that you don't want from the currency must be allowed to be "discarded" to get some of the currency back. Even if it is only like, 5 currency... if I don't want that item, gimme something for it. 3. None of the items available will give people unfair advantages in multiplayer. I don't want a loot box drop to make you suddenly go from 60DPS against people to 120DPS. Things that alter stats should be earned via gameplay. LOOT BOXES ARE ONLY FOR DECORATIVE ITEMS/SKINS IN MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS! SINGLE PLAYER THAT IS DIFFERENT 4. No loot boxes are reserved for people spending real money. People can spend money to get loot boxes, but that does not alter their chances to get anything, just the amount of chances they get. --- |

I'm a smart consumer, I don't need to be "protected" from companies I don't trust by removing their ability to do whatever they want with their game. If someone wants to spend a bunch of cash on COD Infinite Warfare to get MWR without realizing MWR would EVENTUALLY get a solo release are stupid, gullible, and being "taken advantage of". Do whatever you want with a game. If it's egregious enough that I no longer want your product, you've lost my money. But, if they are going to make MORE money doing something that more people like (or tolerate), then it's a smart business decision. --- |
