I'm more of moderate/populist myself with a tendency to lean more towards the "right" on certain issues.

I believe our political system is damaged, and we need to step away from all of the extensive lobbying. It's a huge mess from both sides, and Trump was the first to actually attempt to do something about it.

But, yeah. Perhaps one day things can be different. And, I know Trump has created a whole thing with the transgender Military issue, but I don't think you have too much to worry about. You have to remember who Trump is as a person and what he's done his whole life. He's a big city slicker, and I absolutely believe he has liberal ideas---but the country comes first (not referring to the trans-ban) and many of those ideas are construed as ultra conservative, when I think in actuality people are just leaning further to the left---completely shocked someone actually wants to secure the border and uphold laws already on the books.

I am for securing the borders more, but to make our national debt even more outstanding is not something I agree with, and Republicans shouldn't either. Trump promised Mexico would pay for it. I knew that wasn't going to happen. The Republicans are supposed to be the group restricting the use of our national money, not throwing it all down on a border wall. It just sounds ridiculous to me. Do it, but not that way. :/

Trust me. I wasn't a fan of anyone but Kasich. I knew we needed something different, but the inconsistency of Trump just made me uneasy. Rightfully so too, now that he is President.

The 2016 election was just a shitshow all around. Doesn't matter what side you were on.

It was something that will certainly be noted throughout history, that's for sure. lol

Yeah. 2020 is going to be so freaking crazy. >_>

I think we have a lot in common. I'm more of a blue dog democrat and my main issue with the GOP is they are far right. I was a poly sci major in my undergrad and I am currently doing a masters in political science as well so I am pretty obsessed with politics =P

Yeah, we sound similar. I think Blue Dog is where I would be if I really identified with democrats. I am in my junior for undergrad. So in some cases, yeah, we are kind of there!

Also, I agree. We need to get out of this two party system.

I'd argue we need to abolish the party system altogether. Make politicians stand on their own merits, rather than on the backs of their party members.

I agree. Again, I am independent for a reason.

It sucks you need to ride of the wings of the DNC or RNC to get anywhere. We definitely need a non-party affiliated person to just..... win. Win and show these parties aren't needed.

Hey congrats I know that's a huge win for people like you!

It is, especially since I am very interested in politics and am in a poli-sci program. It gives trans people hope, you know?

I'd vote for you if you went a little further to the right :O

I can't say the same for my "right" counterparts, though. So your best chance may be with the Dems.

My hope is, though, we'll break free from this two party system. Hence, my attraction towards Trump.

I'm a moderate. I might come off as democratic, but I am the way I am because I "do" feel threatened in the sense that the current administration is TOO far right. I liked Kasich and would have voted for him if he made it to the finals. I think Murkowski and Collins would be great too if they tried. The thing is, there are far too many extremists on both the left and the right, but the extremist right is heading the country.

I am not at all opposed to standard right values, but I am against what this administation has been doing. I believe that we need to be leaders of the free world, and I feel as though we no longer are. We are that crazy uncle who was abducted by aliens with every other country saying "Sure, sure USA. Y....yup, whatever you say."

I believe strongly that we need equilibrium. I love the idea of a Republican president and a Democrat Congress and vice versa. When both are Democrat, there's little regulation and too much is forced forward to the point everyone feels like a victim. When both are Republican, everything becomes overly restricted and no progression is made at all.

I mean sure, it might not seem we get anywhere when they are opposing, but it creates a system of checking if the Senate, the House, and the President are all under the thought that we need to make sure we pass legislation for the people.

We aren't there. Not at all. We need to equalize. :/

Also, I agree. We need to get out of this two party system. I'd probably never win, but I'd be independent. More sided with democrats, but mostly independent.

Trump is killing your party Addy. The party is all at each other's throat. Despite what we hear them say:

- Lindsey Graham doesn't actually like Trump.
- Jeff Flake hates Trump.
- McCain doesn't like Trump.
- Susan Collins isn't thrilled with Trump.
- Lisa Murkowski isn't thrilled with Trump.
- Bob Corker outright thinks Trump is an idiot.
- McConnell can keep it in the back of his mind knowing he has to be strong for the Republicans, but you know he hates Trump.

I mean shit, didn't some Republican use a Trump hat as an attack by photoshopping it to a democratic competitor?

Republicans aren't happy and their party is sinking, knowing that the uneducated public is actually following the news now and isn't liking what they are seeing.

TopicWhy is it so hard to understand women but easy to understand men?
Sayoria
11/07/17 1:59:45 PM
#25
Of all the women I have known, I've never had a problem understanding them. The thing is, most men are cookie cutter. Into sports. Into drinking. Into video games. Into women. I mean..... guys are pretty plain for the most part. If I come across a guy who isn't into those things, then there's a "What's this guy even like?" factor.

Women aren't so hard if they don't think you are making a move on them. I've made so many female friends. One of them who goes to school in Western mass is very, very open about everything from her video games (and crushes) to even her worries about her period.

Another girl I know who goes to BC has a snarky side to her that I adore. When she doesn't like you, she let's you know. If you were in class with her and she didn't believe the instructor, she'd be like "Wait, what are you even talking about?" .... I have known her for two years and been in classes with her for three semesters. She's one of the funniest, smartest, and most open women I know.

As for myself, I know I tend to be a tough one. For one, I am a listener, not a speaker. My trans guy friend (who I have known since 2006) who is a complete Bernie fan has little to no knowledge that I am middle and have actual conservative view points here and there. I never tell him, but sometimes my PoV seeps out and he catches it. I cannot remember exactly what, but he and I never talked for about two or three months (well, until recently really) after he pulled apart something I said about Chester Bennington's death. (And I cannot even remember what it was) ..... I personally hate making people upset IRL. I always, always hold my emotions back in person and let others vent. That's what makes me hard to understand. I learn others, but give little time for anyone to know me.

The thing is Duncan, everyone on CE... while it might not seem it, we do have outside lives. Some work, some go to school, some take care of the family and have other commitments. Many of the CEgals for example, are always busy. Many don't even post too too much. When your social life is 90% this board, you are hardly going to find someone here who can keep up with your need of socialization.

I myself am an extrovert at heart, but I get that desire moreso offline. I enjoy being offline more than online honestly. I feel like this place is a prison.

I understand the need for friends, but you have to understand that emailing or messaging us over and over again is often hard for us to keep up with. My weekends are 12 hour work days. On my school days, I am there from 7AM-8PM. I am rarely home, and I am speaking for myself.

I'd advise trying to get onto Meetup.com or something, and see if you can find one of those weekly/daily socialization groups. It might seriously help.
