The problem with an OP skill in a single player game is that it renders every other option worthless and in some cases ruins any challenge the game has.

Balance doesnt need to be as tight in a single player game so letting something be a bit better then normal is fine just stay within reason.

Fish and bugs can get weird, I think it can very from species to species, but in general have a different set of organs for reproduction.

You could have a tame reptile, but that isn't the same as a domesticated reptile.

A domesticated animal is one that through years on selective breeding has had the "natural" behavior towards humans to be completely non-aggressive and complaint. A dog sees a human as it's owner has the "instinct" to try to make the human happy.

A tame animal on the other hand is simply one that has been trained to do some task. A wolf will always have the aggression and hunting instinct no matter how much you train them.

If used properly tone shifts can make a story more engaging. Used poorly tone shifts distract and ruin the narrative of a story.

Like any writing technique there is a time and place for it but it shouldnt be used carelessly.

That is true in most case, a terrible pilot generally means a terrible show. A bad pilot gives an uphill battle to restablish the show. There are a few exceptions but its not worth it to stick around in case its not might not be garbage after five wasted hours.

However a pilot that is merely ok doesnt mean it will stay just mediocre some shows do take a few episodes to pick up steam, but if it doesnt in 2-3 its not worth your time.

Some people will say to give every show a chance but that means a lot of watching episodes of shows that you just dont enjoy and I would rather rewatch a show that starts good.
