For all the handwavers, Barstool Sports is starting a campaign of harassment against those who are offended by Thompson. Im sure there is still time to join and make other sideline reporters uncomfortable and afraid for defending their job.

Who is "they"? Fucking yikes.

But...it's not journalism, is the point I'm making. It literally isn't. They are essentially co-hosts of a TV show. I know you see the word "reporter" there and think this is real journalism, but it isn't. That's not the job.

Sideline reporters aren't actually "reporters". And by that I'm not trying to say "oh what they cover is lesser so it doesn't count", I mean that their role isn't journalistic in nature in the same way that Al Michaels isn't a journalist.

We're not talking about actual news here. We're talking about random platitudes that for some reason they think we need to hear during the game. "The coach said we need to be dialed in on third downs" is not adding anything to the game for me. But that's what the producers want. This isn't real news. They aren't writing any articles.

This is a nothing story. They tried to make it a thing like 2 years ago and it amounted to nothing. They are drumming it up again. Maybe it will get some traction this time because they are trying to boost it, but it's a load of nothingness.

Sports journalism though. Is that really journalism?

This is very old and her explanation was solid. She even mentioned how some coaches are complete garbage people(my words not hers) and they just say something sexist, so instead of throwing them under the bus she makes up some generic lines, or gives her own insights instead of saying "He suggested I meet him in his hotel room."

I got no problem with that.
