I think that's the one that played before The Strangers. I actually left the theater because I didn't want to watch it! I'm already beyond hyped for Long Legs so I want to go into it as blindly as possible so as to avoid another situation like Smile whereupon the trailer spoiled the second best jump scare on the entire film. I just don't trust Hollywood to make good trailers anymore: ones that tell you the bare minimum of what you absolutely need to know about a film before going in without giving way too much away. Hereditary had a good trailer like that, but not every movie can be held to A24's marketing team's standards and industry standard is wildly unpredictable.

Yeah, that ending hit me especially hard and I'm still not sure whether I enjoyed it or loathed it. It definitely got me thinking though. On the whole I rather enjoyed ISTTVG, but I probably enjoyed it more upon critical review. Researching some aspects of the film (which I felt compelled to do because of the abrupt ending) that escaped my initial notice definitely repainted my entire perception of the movie, and cast it in a whole new light. It's a brilliant metaphor for... well that's spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I still can't tell how much of it was supposed to be a metaphor and how much was intended to be interpreted as literal. Either way the ending is totally unsatisfying, but I suppose that was entirely the point the director was trying to get across. It was certainly an interesting direction to go, but I'm still not sure how to feel about it.

I am almost as hyped for Long Legs leading up to its release as I was for Hereditary. It has been SOME TIME since I've been this hyped for a horror film and I can't wait til July gets here!

I failed today. Feels bad, man.

Nothing actively offensive about this one, but the sinister robo dogs seem way too OP. My favorite survival horror concepts pose the questionability of whether the protagonist can survive if they keep their wits about them whereas this felt like an uphill battle wherein the protagonist and everyone else living in this bleak world is just drawing out the inevitable.

I can't help but think of all the many ways Mia's downward spiral into murderous madness could've been prevented and it makes me upset to do so. Why did homeboy have a change of heart after fifteen flipping years? Why did she go along with the cover- up in the first place if she was so conflicted about it? Why couldn't she have convinced him of how stupid his anonymous letter idea was? Why couldn't Shazia have been a bit more clever with her attempted description? Why didn't she notice the guinea pig or even draw the line at smothering an innocent baby? It's all a bit contrived, but I kind of dig it in a dark way I suppose.

This episode was very memorable for me, mostly because of the aforementioned terrible technology. Shaky acting, but the solid ending bumped it up a half point.

9/10 for USS Callister

I loved the poetic justice of Wish brand Matt Damon ending up trapped in a prison of his own design.
