Wasn't that most of Tobey Maguire's villains? Green Goblin went nuts after the gas, Doc Ock with the tentacles, and I guess Venom was a thing in 3, but the other two villains in that movie were in control of their actions I think? I try not to think about Spider-Man 3 <_<

Play some Diablo 4 with a friend that I played D3 with, and try the FFXVI demo if it indeed drops tomorrow.

It's my GOTY for sure, but I can't imagine either Octopath's will ever be considered one of the greatest.

The plot and character design was a letdown after 3H, but I otherwise enjoyed it. Gameplay wise I haven't enjoyed FE this much since I first played Conquest back when it released. I will say that I appreciate Alear being an actual character unlike Byleth, because it still pains me that the only fully voiced FE had a mute MC.

It's probably never gonna happen again but I hope we go back to not having avatars someday.

Not into her so I'll say yuck, but her character was pretty entertaining in Princesses of Power.

Waiting for reviews. These days with games being released in shoddy shape day one, its better to wait and see.

The big Square Enix stuff usually isn't too bad at release so I don't think this will be a problem. Apparently it's not shipping with a day 1 patch either so they must at least be confident in its performance.

The Devolver Direct will at least provide me with a laugh or two. I might watch the Capcom one, but otherwise I only care about the Sunbreak TU6 stream this(?) week.

Needy Streamer Overload was a funny trip. I don't think I'll ever play another game that has a minigame where you help a girl cut her wrist. There's a lot of other odd stuff in it but it's such a peculiar game all around, and in a genre I barely touch.

Another game would be Inscryption probably. I was gifted it by a friend(who I also play MtG with irl) on Steam and knew virtually nothing aside from it being a cardgame roguelike, so imagine my surprise when you first "beat" the game and then the creepy escape room/cardgame roguelike starts getting all weird. It made for a very fun experience/surprise the whole way through though. I wish I could pick up another game blind that's half as weird as Inscryption again.

Mass Effect. Between the three classifications which I think were Combat/Tech/Biotic the Adept was the pure Biotic class, which is essentially the mage as Biotics were space magic.

It's one of the big releases this month so ofc there'd be a lot of people watching it. I assume there are more Blizzard/isometric ARPG fans than there are SFVI/fighting game fans. Plus the game isn't out yet for people that didn't pay the extra $20, so they could just be thirsty for any gameplay before they get their hands on it.

No idea how Twitch viewership will look like after FFXVI releases this month.

Anyone know anything about Afterimage? It's on sale right now so it's somewhat tempting.

Apparently the map is huge for a Metroidvania(bigger than Aeterna Noctis), and probably one of the longer titles in the genre. I already bought it but I haven't gotten a chance to try it since I'm currently in JRPG hell. I tried the Afterimage demo on one of those Steam Next Fests or whatever and I didn't think much of it at the time, but I did enjoy it enough to stick it on my wishlist.

Nobody's recommended Monster Sanctuary yet so that gets my vote. It's basically metroidvania meets turn-based monster battler rpg. Pretty neat concept imo.

Oh this completely slipped my mind and I even got every achievement in it too. It's got nice replayability with its roster, randomizer, Brave mode, and now its new Relics of Chaos mode which I haven't tried.

Without spoiling too much The Messenger is a linear platformer that turns into a Metroidvania. Some people only liked/wanted the first half of the game but I thought the changes in the middle were brilliant. It has harder platforming than most of the titles itt but I didn't think it was too bad. The Metroidvania section is pretty easy for navigating through if you want to buy the hints from the shopkeeper, or don't if you wanna figure everything out for yourself. There's a bunch of platforming as you move through the map though which is tiring to some.

Axiom Verge is one of the most not-Metroid Metroids I've ever played. Exploration wise I think this is one of my favorite Metroidvania's. The weapons get pretty busted which makes combat later kind of a joke(on my first attempt I literally stood still during the last boss and kept mashing to victory). The grappling hook feels like jank for a modern game which bothers the shit out of some people. Super Metroid is my favorite of the genre namesakes so Axiom Verge feels pretty great for me. I also liked its sequel but it's really not like the first game which made it a disappointment to some.

As for my own recommendation I feel the need to recommend Aeterna Noctis a bunch. I played it day 1 and 100%'d it blind that same month and loved it. It immediately shot up to my 2nd favorite game in the genre and I loved how huge the map felt, the bosses, the platforming, and one area in particular that's my favorite area in a Metroidvania. It has Souls mechanics though and I thought it was harder than every game itt. They did patch in an easy mode that removes a lot of platforming challenges, but I never tried it.

For the Souls recommendations itt I'll second Blasphemous and Salt & Sanctuary. Ender Lilies doesn't have Souls mechanics but I think the boss difficulty seems to get to some people so I'll just mention it here. Grime and Death's Gambit: Afterlife are also Soulslike Metroidvania's that I enjoy, but I recommend Grime more.

Well to go over the non-Soulsy recommendations from earlier in the topic I'll second: Guacamelee(and its sequel), both Ori's, Bloodstained RotN, The Messenger, and Axiom Verge.

The Guacamelee games I actually played co-op with someone who isn't great with platformers, and he nearly ragequit at one point near the end. It very much feels like a beat em up in a Metroidvania when you play it like that, and they throw mandatory non-boss fights at you pretty often. I thought the second game was way better, especially in its gameplay as a chicken(Morph Ball-equivalent). The humor may be a hit or miss for some, and the second game has a bunch of random references to stuff like Limbo, JRPGs, Metroid, etc.

Both of the Ori games are very platform-heavy and have probably the best plot out of anything itt if you care about that. The soundtracks were also great, and although I would never call either of them bad games I felt they were overrated. The second game has way better combat imo, and I thought three of the bosses were pretty fun in that entry even though I'm still kinda eh on the whole game. Still worth playing at some point imo.

Bloodstained RotN probably feels closest to Castlevania SotN for obvious reasons. I'm not much a fan of RPG mechanics in my Metroidvania's and this one isn't as good as SotN for me, but I thought it was still pretty good. It has a lot of replayability with its different characters and the built-in randomizer if you're into that. It can also be pretty grindy if you wanna bother getting every achievement, but it won't take like a crazy amount of time or anything.

How many recommendations do you want/is fine? I play a bunch(might be my favorite genre actually), and beat like almost 20 last year.

Nerfs, especially if they're constant. Big/negative changes like what OW2 did when it released can also stop me from playing something ever again.

I didn't play Elden Ring but when they killed that rapid fire ice stomp attack, that was really lame.

They nerfed it right after I spammed it to beat Malenia the first or second time I think. It was fun(probably busted) while it lasted.

Fire Emblem Awakening has a ton of playable parents and their kids.

I'm looking forward to the Ender Lilies run. It's not a game I expected to see on there.

Agreed. I think I've watched a GDQ one of these before, or it was the first game. Either way it was fun.

How has that game been? I didn't hear of it at all until like a month at most ago, but I thought the gameplay looked neat after seeing one of the devs play it for a bit. I need some shooter to fill the hole in my heart after Dusk and Amid Evil.

After the "Out of season April Fools joke" guy they'll probably never do a legitimate Q&A ever again.

I liked the beta but expectations are still low. If two of the people I play Diablo with weren't planning to get it then I wouldn't be picking it up on release. Now if only I could rope people into playing Last Epoch with me.

Characters being forced to job or just written out of the story because of how powerful they are is always disappointing. Dr. Strange being on water duty during the climax of the MCU sucked, and in the DCAU I'm bothered that Amazo was just badly written out of existence.

Halo 3 map pack probably.

There's nothing to bring back since Square Enix still makes turn based games, but no one buys them so here we are.

Not something that comes to mind when someone says yuri, but The Owl House is great. Even though S3 was cut short it still ended on a high note imo.

There were a couple of topics about Octopath II on CE back when it released. I personally loved it(probably my GOTY unless FFXVI impresses me a lot), but I'd agree that you shouldn't get it if you didn't like the first one. I rarely hear of people enjoying II when they didn't like the first.

Just went back and watched the MGS3 remake teaser...the tone for that trailer was weird and didn't feel like MGS at all.

Because it lacks Kojima.

Persona 5 because I was starved for more. I think maybe Destiny 1 as well when I was just getting the three classes through the campaign for the first time. Oh and definitely some Souls titles, whether it be for achievement/trophies regarding the endings or trying out other weapons/builds.
